Hi Foxy

I take your point, not all employers are out to take advantage, but there are the unscrupulous who will, given the opportunity do exactly that. There are always the 7-Eleven's out there looking to exploit the vulnerable.

Something of interest. Have you noticed how quite the 'Usual Suspects' have gone on the academics of late. Like those boffins in white coats, in some back room laboratory staring down a microscope for hours on end. According to some of the old farts, they were over educated, over paid, useless logs, they needed to get the flick, and get a real job. Much of this academic work, which they perceived as useless is financed by the state. Now with covid-19, the work of those useless academics in their white coats, in their back room laboratories, staring down the microscopes, may just save the human race. What do the 'Usual Suspects' say now?

Hi Paul,

I've worked in two continents and have been very
fortunate with my employers on the whole.
I did have one bad experience at work - where the
union only came in to help me after I had resigned
in frustration. It was a case of too little, too late.

From then on - I decided not to belong to any union.

Today - it no longer matters for me.

As far as my family members are concerned, as I stated
earlier - they do have successful careers and are doing
well on their own.

Regarding academics?

I know there's been a great deal of criticism and I'm
not sure if it's justified or not. When I studied - it
wasn't easy and a tough slog all round. So I have the
highest respect for any one who under takes any studies.
It is a challenge. I firmly believe in research and
development because through new discoveries we can
improve the human lot. Perhaps people are starting to
realise that with the onset of this pandemic?

Mr O,

The vary from IT experts, to architects, to retail
managers, to doctors, nurses, and yes lawyers,
engineers, and teachers. All part of my immediate
family as well as our extended family. We're a
mixed bunch. And I'm grateful for that. And of course
there's a librarian as well (me).

Foxy,

If I was you I would throw the lawyers and engineers out and keep the rest.

Could you imagine what it must be like studying law: as boring as watching wet paint dry. But once a person qualifies as a lawyer there is a shitload of money to be made profiteering from the misfortune and misery of others.

And for engineers, well they're just meatheads. But they're alright as long as there's plenty of football, racing cars and paint ball outings to keep them occupied.
