Yep when you can't win change the rules. Typical of sore losers. When they lose the popular vote then they will want it changed back.

runner,

No. there have been only five US presidential
elections in which the winner lost the popular
vote. Reform is being suggested only because
the current US president is nuts.

According to Glenn Fahey, education research fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies, and formerly a consultant at the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation, there is a "huge educational loss" to students from learning disruption. Homeschooling works only for some kids. Research repeatedly warned that school closures would undermine children's progress. Yet, overzealous premiers caused a "haphazard" closure of schools - against the advice of the Prime Minister and state and federal health advisors: despite the fact that we already have the dumbest kids in the OECD, who also rate below developing countries.

A few old people dying of the China virus in nursing homes pales into insignificance compared to the deleterious effect on our kids' already dodgy education

ttbn,

I agree with your remark that "Homeschooling works only for some kids." For homeschooling to work it needs parents who have the credentials to teach their offspring in the subjects that are examinable for matriculation.

How many parents would have credentials in a relatively diverse range of topics that include science, history, English, modern languages, geography, mathematics, etc. The parent/s would need to have half a dozen degrees up his/her or their sleeves. How many households would have that capacity? Most parents only have vocational training which is pretty much useless for scholarly pursuits.

So the majority of kids living in households where neither parent has any credentials would be left to their own devices trying to prepare themselves for matriculation exams by researching Google and Wikipedia. Which is probably alright if one wants to end up like a Shadow Minister, LOUDmouth, Hasbeen, etc., but who would wish that on anyone.

runner,

It's not Biden that we have to worry about.

And, I'm not a know-it-all - not by a long shot.
I'm still on my own journey of discovery.

Flattering as your comments are - you've probably
got me confused with your idol - the US President.

He's the one who's convinced that he, and he alone can
do everyone else's job better than they, generals,
climate scientists, public health experts. And he's
always right.

Even when being wrong will cause the additional deaths
of perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Because he's a nutcase.
