ttbn,
<<Incidentally, retired Monash University professor and bushfire researcher, David Packham, says that, if there is any global warming, the warming is so slow and so small that the bushfire events are totally overrun by the fuel state. But, of course, his is the sort of science that the climateers do not think is 'in'.>> Well stated ttbn. This is how one incident unfolded with Packham trying to get his message across But here is what happened to top bushfire researcher David Packham when he tried to say this to the ABC's 7:30: "Bushfire expert David Packham tried to tell 7.30 we had to burn our bush every 10 years to cut the leaf litter that turns our fires into infernos, a level of burning NSW doesn't come close to reaching. But after just 69 words, 7.30 handed back his microphone to chatterers whose living depends on the warming scare - two green activists and a scientist from Climate System Science. "Packham has told me what actually happened: "Briefly, at 7.30 request I came into Melbourne a three hour drive and spent 50 minutes with the 7.30 folk. I estimate about 35 minutes was in interview. I was asked to confirm that the fires in NSW were unprecedented in being so early in the season. I said no, they were not and offered information from Luke and Mc Arthur "Bushfires in Australia -1976" (Aust Govt Publishing Service) which was not accepted. When the question was put as to the role of global warming, again I said "not involved". That was not an acceptable answer and it was clear that it did not fit with the predetermined agenda. My sadness at the termination of my life-long love of the ABC because of this very unethical journalism - at least of the news division - is not only sadness but also a touch of fear for our democracy (Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun, 2013), http://www.heraldsun.com.au/blogs/andrew-bolt/abc-interviews--a-sceptic-for-35-minutes-on-the-fires-and-rejects-all-but-69-words/news-story/4fa5981e575c6f2ad48806aa61d3340d (continued) Posted by OzSpen, Saturday, 16 November 2019 10:18:51 AM

(continuation)
There is another primary issue that doesn't like to be raised on forums like this one. If we had long green grass and very green trees, there would be less possibility of the tragic bush fires we see. What will it take to turn the tinder dry grass into green? Jesus said, 'I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong' (Matthew 5:44-45). Secular Aussies, journalists and others, including Prime Ministers, admit, 'We can't make it rain'. What will it take for us to move from naturalistic explanations (climate change) to supernatural understanding of God's sending the rain. It won't rain until He decides it is time. When will we wake up to this fact? Or, or we too far gone down the tube of secularism to know where the real meal on the table comes from? Posted by OzSpen, Saturday, 16 November 2019 10:24:31 AM

Hey Spencer,
I want to congratulate you on your first comment. It's probably the most well grounded, reasonable and logical thing I've ever seen you write; and I also get an added bonus that it's in line with my earlier links regarding indigenous fire management. - But you ruined your great first comment with the second. And not to put crap on religion, but you went from logical to airy-fairy and lost that newly-found 'well-grounded' status that you'd somehow managed to find in your first comment. The topic of your comment crosses over into the 'fake news' discussion as well. To the 7:30 team I say "Don't let the truth get in the way of telling a good story". - Which should really be the corporate media's motto. - FYI their narrative is in line with UN SDG's, as also mentioned on the other thread. http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=8995&page=0#294609 What's more important these days, ratings and global agendas or the truth? (That's a rhetorical btw) Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 17 November 2019 6:43:56 AM

According to former NSW Fire and Rescue chief Greg Mullins, as early as April and again in May, 23 former fire and emergency leaders tried to warn the Morrison government by letter, and also requested a face to face meeting to alert them to the fact Australia was about to face a bushfire emergency, and that more water-bombers to tackle bigger, faster and hotter bushfires were needed. Morrison and co failed to listen to these practical experts on bushfire control, and did nothing.
Mullins said; "It is very, very disappointing that we weren't listened to earlier because we actually predicted exactly what's happening now. Measures could have been taken months ago to make the firefighters more effective and to make the community safer." He went on to say; He thought the coming summer was going to be, "the worst I have ever seen" for fire crews, and renewed his calls for the government to take urgent action to address climate change and stop Australia's rising emissions.
