We should be asking the Chinese what they think about all of this. After all it's their country now and they're the ones who are going to have to make the big decisions about the direction Australia has to take in the future.

Our bushfire history shows politicians could learn a lesson from Indigenous Australia

Dear Armchair Critic,
Do you think we should also ask the Chinese? It's their country now. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 14 November 2019 6:34:33 AM

Come on Mr Opinion you can do better than that with your vast knowledge of climate science. Debate and contribute facts to the subject not the person!

Apparently, bushfire management in Australia reached its peak in 1975-1990. "since then, the huge expenditure on water bombers and the vast armies of firefighters with their wondrous equipment, the bushfire situation (especially in the eastern states) has regressed to the situation that prevailed in the 1950s."
In a "Third World scenario", almost nothing is done about repetitive and wholly predictable disasters … until after they strike. This is "mystifying" in a bushfire-prone country like Australia. Our political leadership has been gutless, kowtowing to pressure groups and putting election winning before looking after the country; and there is the prevailing ignorance about bushfire science, and a failure to study centuries of history and human experience. Not to mention the "green ideology(that) has infiltrated our government agencies and poisoned government policies"; the people who use bushfires for politicking, lying about a connection between climate change and bushfires. And, of course, the media loves the opportunity for dramatic and breathless report of bushfires. Brigade chiefs, dressed like South American dictators, also get to perform for the cameras. And, just who gets to play with the huge amounts of money - clearly ineffective - pumped into firefighting by easily-conned politicians? (Source: Roger Underwood, 'Quadrant Online'). Police Fear Criminals Could Be Vilified

"Last week, police stated they would not reveal what sparked the blaze as they feared those responsible could be vilified in the small, tight-knit community. But after a backlash from locals, authorities have now released more details."
