"There is no doubt that Hamilton Brown was a prominent plantation owner in Jamaica during the first half of the 19th century, owned slaves, and also advocated against the abolition of slavery and sought to downplay the difficult working and living conditions of slaves in Jamaica."

Jose' it may well be true that this Hamilton Brown was as you say, a slave owner, which is not disputed, but the claim that he; "advocated against the abolition of slavery and sought to downplay the difficult working and living conditions of slaves in Jamaica." Where is that claim from? Is it a Trump lie, or is it recorded as fact. Since you are quoting from 'Wikipedia' "Brown was active in trying to recruit Irish people to work in Jamaica. In December 1835, 121 people from Ballymoney, Antrim, set off from Belfast for Jamaica on the James Ray, a brig owned by Brown."

The latest from The Donald; supporters should boycott American businesses that are NOT openly supporting his erection. One example is the Goodyear tyre company, accordingly; "Trump has urged his supporters to boycott tyres from Goodyear, tweeting that the Ohio-based company had banned his famous Make America Great Again slogan." Which is another lie from The Donald. The fact is Goodyear have "asked employees to refrain from workplace expressions involving political campaigns (all and any) and "forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues". So much for the lying Donald.

Dear Josephus,

Do you have any convict ancestry? And if you do - does that
make you a crim today? What does the ancestry of Kamala
Harris have to do with anything? Especially the person that
she is today - and her qualifications for the job she's
seeking? (future vice-president). Surely she should be judged
on her own qualifications for the job and not what has or has not
happened in her ancestry by someone she never knew.

The arguments you are presenting smacks very much of the Trump
trash tactics that he's famous for. Including his attempts
to infer that former President Barack Obama was not born in
America - and even today his suggestions that Kamala Harris's
place of birth is also questionable.

Come on Josephus - surely you're more intelligent than that.
Falling for this kind of nonsense - is only for the
mentally and morally deficient.

Dear Joe and Paul,

That con man in the White House is going to pull every
dirty trick he can. What a reprehensible character.
And it's going to get even nastier. I can no longer watch
the man on TV. I turn off the minute his face appears.
Disgusting man - who demeans every thing that America once
stood for.

Thanks to everyone who've contributed to this discussion.
For me it's now run its course.
It shall be interesting to see what happens in the next
few months and what America decides who they want as their
leader.

I shall keep my fingers-crossed.

Dear Foxy,

I don't think I hate Trump.

It's more like disgust, contempt, horror, disdain for his complete incompetence, even fear of what crazy thing he will suggest next. Resignation that nothing he says or does will be for the people or for his country, his bottom line will always be 'what's in my best interests ?'

Weird. He's really been a complete failure, even as a businessman - someone pointed out that what he was given as a young man, $ 650 million of his own and much control over his father's real estate and casino dealings, and that if he had invested that cash for those 55 years at a good interest rate, he would be worth more now than he is, four billion or so.

I do recall him boasting during his 'debates' with Henry Clifton in 2016 (when he was hovering over her) about how smart he was, to go into bankruptcy four times, in order to minimise his debts. i.e. the 'smarts' of a total bastard.

So he never finished high school. He dodged military service. He never finished even the most basic of university awards (that perhaps even Misopinionated may be close to finishing).

I'm sure psychiatrists find him intriguing - well, there are so many puzzling things about him, and not in a good way - and have him diagnosed pretty well by now. They may even have come together to put forward a thorough and comprehensive assessment of his mental condition.

Joe

For those claiming immunity from past ancestors misdemeanors of slavery, that is not what BLM are overlooking, they want those that have benefited from slavery to repatriate descendants of slaves. If she has inherent wealth it must be shared with families of former slaves, is the policy of BLM.
