I've been reading articles about the former United
States vice-president with headlines like - "Can
Joe Biden keep it together?" And - "Biden's tendency
towards verbal missteps" and so on. However are these
indications that the man is "senile?" Is there any
evidence of that - or is this just a ploy by the
Trump team to degrade the man?

If the man had cognitive impairment then surely the
Democrats would have chosen a better candidate? They
have quite a few capable people to choose from.

In any case I feel that with the right choice of
vice president Biden is in with a chance at the next
election.

Am I wrong? Or do most of you think that Donald Trump
will get re-elected?

Hi Foxy,

Yes, I'm very impressed by some of the younger Democrat women - and by some young Republican women too, such as Nikki Haley. What I find very exciting is not just that they are women, but that they are so often of mixed-ancestry. Wonderful role-models for the world.

It's likely that Biden will win the election, no trouble, but (as many people suspect) will last only a short time before handing the job over to his vice-president, whoever she may be. After all, he's pushing eighty and Trump has shown pretty conclusively that there may need to be an age-limit on all presidential candidates, Republican and Democrat.

In both parties, there are many much younger potential candidates for president, and they give us some hope that the US is working its way out of its fetid swamps.

Foxy,

Oops, I should have added that perhaps we can't take it for granted that Trump will be the Republicans' candidate in the November election. If it dawns on many of the senior Republicans like McConnell or Graham that he has no hope, then there may be steps taken to 'replace' him as their candidate.

Perhaps he will get very sick, perhaps he will decide that he needs to spend more time with his family, or perhaps as a last resort, he does a Jimmy Hoffa.

So who else might replace Trump as the Republican candidate ?

Dear Joe,

I'm hopeful that Joe Biden will win. It is time for a
change of direction for the United States. Still
I'm not betting on anything at the moment. Who would
have thought that Trump would get elected in the
first place?

Dear Joe,

I think that Trump's current vice president would be
a better choice as a Republican candidate. As of course
would Mitt Romney - if he chose to run. Any Republican would
be better than Trump. ANY!

Pence as president ? He's opposed to abortion rights, etc. So I'm not so sure. He certainly would be more competent but also more consistently ultra-conservative than the current clown. He hasn't advocated anything, from memory, that I would have supported.
