Shadow Minister,
Luckily the Electoral College system does not apply to us in Australia. And the majority vote elects the government - unlike in the US. Everyone there agrees that this Electoral College voting system has to change or be abolished. Especially to avoid future Trumps who are totally unfit for office. It's amazing that some people really think that Trump is a genuine Christian and is a real believer in the sanctity of human life and therefore is against abortion, any abortion.
Totally amazing that Trump's record both in and out of politics and through the history of his personal life has not revealed to these Trump supporters that he is living a lie and will do anything to hoodwink everyone all of the time if he can. I guess though that some 'believers' must just be so 'hooked' that they cling fast to the 'illusion' in spite of all the evidence clearly demonstrating that Trump is really a circus-showman, a snake-oil salesman and a complete fraud. Someone said 'seeing' is not as important as 'looking' in the quest to reveal truth. May be some truth in that, for all genuinely seeking revelation. Biden on the other hand may be a bit slow and has not always been wise in his choices, but he certainly appears to be the genuine article and there seem to be a great many people who see him just that way, 'genuine', no ifs, not buts, just the real deal. Surely that beats a 'snake-oil salesman' any day of the week? All we and the free world can hope is that clarity and sanity will ultimately prevail. Otherwise, hang on to your hat and batten down the hatches, cause all bets will be off and the hounds will be taking no prisoners. Posted by Saltpetre, Thursday, 10 September 2020 10:20:07 PM

Foxy,
Only Democrats are calling for the abolition of the electoral college as a knee jerk to Trump winning. South Australian election 2014 Liberals 53% of popular vote 22 seats. Labor 47% of the popular vote 23 seat result: Labor government with a huge when Liberals had 6% more popular vote which is a bigger margin than with Trump who had 2% less than Clinton. Saltpetre, When you vote in an election you are voting for someone who represents your point of view and values. That Trump supports life for all rates higher than Joe who funds abortion for largely Black babies. He as a Republican represents a value higher than the Democrats for Christians.

Well Josephus, I hope God appreciates your conviction to your ideals, as I believe God would not be taken-in by Trump's faux 'change of heart' on this important issue when, and only when, it suited the narrative he believed would give him the best chance of fulfilling his own personal ambitions.
To him, the end will always justify the means. Trump obviously has no morals, and cannot be trusted. Only the meek should inherit the Earth, because all else is chaos and destruction - and we are seeing this play-out with Trump's withdrawal of environmental protections, his veiled positivity towards the White Supremacist movement, his positivity towards the likes of Putin, Xi, Kim and the Saudi Crown Prince, his abrupt withdrawal of support for the Kurds in the fight against ISIS in Syria and his lack of concern about Russia's fighting for the opposing side (supporting the Assad regime) in the same theatre, and even his complete lack of empathy for those who have fought wars and laid down their lives on behalf of the US. Some are so naive as to think that 'life' could not have originated on our Earth, and must have come from somewhere else in the Universe - as Earth is perhaps just too 'puny' to warrant such a 'gift'. So, they seek answers elsewhere, and Trump gloatingly announces 'Space Force' in his typical 'God bless America' push for ultimate power and supremacy over all things, physical and spiritual. Favours Israel and is deeply suspicious of Muslims - yet negotiates an 'alliance' between Israel and the UAE, because it suits American arms supply deals perhaps, but remains totally opposed to Iran - not all Arabs are equal. Our Earth is the 'gift', and too many, including Trump, have no gratitude, no appreciation, but seek only to exploit at any cost for personal gain and ambition. 'Eden' is trashed, and the victors 'gloat' in their ignorance. Trump, amoral, devoid of altruism, self-serving, and ultimately worthless. Posted by Saltpetre, Friday, 11 September 2020 11:00:20 AM

The Census is performed roughly every decade and the allocation of delegates is based on this. The last census was done in 2010. The population has not changed substantially since then.
Just imagine if the Aus senate was arranged on this basis. Tasmania would get 1 senator and NSW would get 19.
Things might change a little then.
