To Opinionated2.

I have to ask. What God do you believe in? Is it the same one that Christians worship? A simular one? A cosmic force that isn't aware of us, or the sum of the universe? Or something else?

I ask because you say the bible lies about God, so you must have some concept of God without the bible. Is it through prayer, moral contemplation, an experience that can't be explained conventionally?

More people you can kill..

Not seeking the Lord GOD of Israel 2 Chronicles 15:12-13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Priest daughters Leviticus 21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

WHAT? GOD allowed burning to death? REALLY?

Prophecying falsely,- Parents to kill prophet Zechariah 13:3 And it shall come to pass, [that] when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

BUT hang on – Didn’t GOD put false words in the mouths of some prophets? WOW!

1 Kings 22:23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

AND

2 Chronicles 18:22 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

So does this mean that a Prophet who GOD put false words into can be murdered with a sword by his parents for being wrong?

Really? And believers believe this?

Blasphemy Leviticus 24:10-16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, (and) all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name (of the LORD), shall be put to death.

BUT hang on JESUS whom many of you call GOD said this

Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

And the list goes on...

Working on the Sabbath...Exodus 31:12-15 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it (is) holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth (any) work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Worshipping another GOD...Destroy whole town forever!...Deuteronomy 13:15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.

WHAT? Kill even those who haven’t done wrong? Kill only the cattle? What is it with GOD and cattle? Chickens, goats etc...don’t get punished but cattle do?

Eating from the Tree of Knowledge....Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

AND confirming it

Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which (is) in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

BUT hang on they didn’t surely die on the day they ate. Satan said they wouldn’t! Did GOD lie and Satan tell the truth?

GENESIS 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

This creates a massive problem for believers. Please do not embarrass yourself by adding the word “spiritually” to suit your argument. That would be saying GOD wasn’t smart enough to put it in the first place!

Or this instruction

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,

he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

So do you believe GOD would make a woman marry her rapist?

I guess if you believe the Bible is God's word then I guess your mind is that twisted and you shamefully do!

Dear OP2,

What are you trying to prove, and why?

As we know although religion is a universal
social institution, it takes a multitude of forms.

What we are familiar with have been based by ethnocentric
Judeo-Christian ideas about religion. These ideas are based
on a number of central beliefs; that there exists one supreme
being or God; that God created the universe and all of life and
takes a continuing interest in the creation; that there is a
life hereafter; and that our moral behaviour in this life
influences our fate in the next. In cross-cultural terms,
however, this particular combination of beliefs is unusual.
Many religions do not believe in gods at all. Several religions
ignore questions about the origins of the universe and life,
leaving these problems to be dealt with instead by
nonreligious myth. Many religions assume that the gods take
little interest in human affairs.

Some have almost nothing to say about life after death and many
perhaps most do not link our earthly morality with our fate
beyond the grave. Obviously, religion cannot be defined in terms
of Western religious tradition alone.

Instead of citing all the errors to be found in the Bible -
take a look at some positives that religion
offers:

Whatever their source, the rituals enacted
in any religion enhance the solidarity
of the community as well as its faith.
Consider such religious rituals as baptism, bar mitzvah, weddings,
Sabbath services, Christian mass, and funerals. Rituals like
these serve to bring people together; to remind them of their
common group membership; to re-affirm their traditional
values, to maintain prohibitions and taboos, to offer comfort in
times of crisis, and in general to help transmit the cultural
heritage from one generation to the next.

It seems that shared religious beliefs and the rituals that
go with them are important. It seems that every society needs
a religion or at least some belief system that serves
the same functions. And in this fundamental sense religion is
probably here to stay.

Foxy a great post.

The basic principle of Christianity is admiration and emulation of the perfect character [God] and the sacrificial care of one's neighbour.

Atheist philosophies applied in the last 200 years have murdered millions in the attempt to eradicate religion. Op2 thinks he has the answers but he is not addressing the problems of society.
