Hi there LUDWIG my friend, always a pleasure ! It's quite true though, NHOJ always seems to struggle to find anything remotely constructive to say about anyone or anything ? Actually, I feel rather sorry for NHOJ, given that in the very short period he/she's decided to grace us all, with his/her presence, he/she's managed to get him or her, manifestly off-side with nearly everybody ?

I can only hope he or she maintains the strict 'restorative' therapeutic regimen, otherwise there's no telling what might happen in that curious delusional state, in which he or she seems to perpetually subsist ? We can, but only try I suppose ?

Gee, you guys are not very clever are you. There's reasons why "others" are running the country and not you people. Not one of you even remotely realizes that means testing all fines will ... wait for it.. oh my gosh and golly gee .. COST MORE THAN THE REVENUE RAISED. The red tape and bureaucracy involved in administration and defending challenges to individual fines would be ENORMOUS.

Duh !!

Every millionaire and every wealthy member of their extensive families, every wealthy lawyer, every comfortable architect/ accountant / corrupt Liberal lobbyist / shifty used car salesman / church/ developer / banker / organization / politician etc etc etc etc (the list is close to endless) will .. wait for it .. oh my gosh and golly gee .. CHALLENGE EVERY FINE THEY GET in the courts, and also "arrange" their finances to minimise all possible damage. It will cost the country BILLIONS of $$$$$$ to pursue and investigate these people over the decades.

Let's just hope and pray that you people NEVER get a chance to run a chook sale, let alone a country.

Nhoj is right about this guys.
He says it like it is, and you lot all go off like firecrackers...one after the other.
I love it!

Don't you think this notion of paying fines according to income has been tossed about before....and then tossed out?

It is as impractical to implement as an involuntary call to arms in a military camp would be.
Individual, learning to use a gun does not 'make an adult' out of anyone.
It just proves they have a good eye and a will to kill.

Suseonline,
no, you just don't understand that such ignorance & even worse stupidity which you seem so happy to support, needs to be curbed before it becomes more contageous.
I'd say this is about the most perfect example of stupidity on OLO thus far.
Don't you have any integrity or sense of responsibility ? Why else would you agree with this moron ? Perhaps you're on too ?
We're discussing the fairness/unfairness of fines & you & this other moron butt in with an overdose of idotic nonsense.
Many fines are excessive & many are too lenient. You're an example of the latter. If stupidity were a crime you'd get life.
What is so wrong with a fine reflecting a percentage of income ? A fine of $100 really hurts a working person but it doesn't even register a thought for those floating in money. A fine is supposed to be adeterrent not some minor inconvenience.

Susie, Nhoj both well put.

<<Don't you think this notion of paying fines according to income has been tossed about before....and then tossed out?>>

Once again speaking sense. I'll put it to the other side and see if they have an answer!

Car A Gina Rhinoceros's brand new Lamborghini Gallardo and Car B Doley Dan's 68' Buzz Box. Both parked in the the "No Standing Zone" along comes Bomber Bill and sticks a bluey on their wind screens. FINED!
From this point what are the steps to be taken to collect the fine. Gina's annual income is $1 to $2 billion, not entire sure, have to ask her team of accounts and Doley's on $20 grand p/a from Centerlink and Tax records. What is the process for applying the fines and their ultimate collection. if it's 1% we know Doley owes 200 bucks Gina well somewhere between $10 and $20 million. I hear the shrill cry's already from the 'Usual Suspects' that's too much on poor Gina lets make it $1 or $2 million. After much legal wrangling Gina's legal team and accountants have offered a settlement figure of 200 bucks!

Please explain the process!
