Before people get too excited about the last election, the overall result was really a "Bradbury" win for the coalition.

On first preferences, although there was -1.39% swing against the ALP, the Libs also had a 0.68% swing against them too and the Nats lost 0.10%. The only way the coalition won was from preferences from Palmers UAP plus One Nation and in the end had won only one more seat than the previous election and the overall 2 party preferred result was only a 1.17% swing - hardly a landslide.

By the way, how are those promised 10,000 Adani jobs going?

Since then the Nats have seen they're in trouble and have become denim-clad coal-fondlers and trying to win coal-based seats, despite their history of trying to set up cheap accommodation for FIFO workers to displace local coal miners.

Also poll-wise, according to an ex-Newspoll executive that ‘preferred PM’ question is included in the survey to ‘get a headline’. He said it was a nonsense question.

Meanwhile after numerous scandals (financial and personal), ongoing negligence, gross financial mismanagement, incompetence and corruption they expect to be rewarded with "another go".
It’s worth remembering that Morrison can only continue as PM because he relies on the parliamentary votes of 1 alleged rapist, 2 pro-virus conspiracy theorists and 1 up-skirter that should have been in an ankle bracelet long ago.

Now their economically responsible myth is in tatters and refugees and terrorists have faded from the headlines, their strategy is now lining up to be the "tough on China" candidate.

SM, read my post on page 2, in my mind Labor is only the lesser of two evils. The D and A of Federal Labor only differs from the Coalition by a few degrees. With covid and the economy I doubt Labor would have done anything markedly different from the Coalition.

Albo for PM, I'm so excited. Sad reflection on Australia, the best 25 million people can throw up for the job of Fearless Leader, is ScomO and Albo. JESUS CHRIST what are we in for.

Oh how easy it is to be wise and critical in retrospect. Compared to the rest of the world, I think Australia's leadership has done remarkably well. It has to be remembered that the pandemic has not been experienced by anyone before and it is extremely difficult to manage a constantly changing scenario with hastily developed vaccines that had to be tested under extremely trying conditions with a social network either condemning so much of the science and technology or running scare tactics with little knowledge of what they were talking about... notwithstanding the very few who had qualifications that suggested that they did. It's a war which hopefully we are getting on top of and generally speaking I think we should give support to all those on the front line and who have to make ultimate life and death decisions in the face of all the criticism leveled at them. That mainly includes the politicians that have to act on the advice given to them by the medical profession. They are all doing their utmost to make the right decisions in very difficult and constantly changing circumstances. Name a country that has done better. This forum contains too many people that only want to throw stones.

Indeed Snake, no one really knows what is the best way to beat this plague.
Even the medical experts are making educated guesses.
After it is all over all the real experts world wide should establish
a commission and examine all the data and decisions and outbreak numbers.
Then they might be able to find the best way for next time.

All the political criticisms are ignorant.

The problem with Labour Juliemak is that they are all united with no
different opinion. They will go down the 50 zero path come hell or
high water. Whereas the coalition has known divisions on energy and
the first load shedding will cause a major rethink on energy policy.
That is what I want to see.
ps don't buy a unit in a multi story block !

Saw this on the Net just now & it reminded me of the Politics & policies of Labor.

I don't know who wrote this so I hope it's ok to use this very sane assessment.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating

the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another

person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the

government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have

to work because the other half is going to take care of them,

and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to

work because somebody else is going to get what they work for,

that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
