I do not think there is much sense in praising/criticising politicians
and even epidemic medical experts on COVID matters because I believe
virtually no one has a clue on the best way to handle it.
After the event a statistical examination with all the data available
and properly dated may point out what worked and what did not.

If Albo wins it will be interesting to see how Labour managers the
decrease in CO2 emissions. Not all sources will be able to be reduced
by 43/8 = 5.4% per year to 2030.
For instance diesel for trucks will be hard to reduce by that much
every year so other parts of the economy will have to make larger
reductions every year.
Will the Defense Forces have to reduce their consumption by more than
5.4% per year ? Will rail services, freight & passenger have to reduce
by more than 5.4% per year ?
Public Transport will have to be expanded into other areas with electric busses.
The provision of these services will increase emissions significantly.
Certainly it seems that private car use will have to be drastically
reduced by taxes or petrol rationing.
Frankly, I just cannot see a way around it.

Dear Bazz,

Exciting times ahead by the sound of it.

We certainly have the intelligence and the tools and the
natural resources to provide for a good and sustainable
life. Australia is one of the standout countries in
terms of development status. We have leading climatologists,
scientists, our pre-eminent public research organisation -
CSIRO is a leader in innovations. It is not corrupt. It's
science is world class. All this matters.

New ideas should be welcome for the opportunities they
open up for the improvement of the human lot.

Of course new ideas are seen as threats by those who have
become comfortable in their ideologies. But realistically
that will have to change in the next decades if the country
is to survive and prosper.
