Strange how people see things differently.
Some look at the stars and reach for the
heavens while others prefer to keep their eyes
downcast and not see much that's uplifting at all.

What we need are leaders who do reach for the heavens.
Who have the vision to see how things can be improved.
And who have the gumption to take action.

With the new year just around the corner - we can
have hope, and possibly new opportunities that things
will get better for us all. We've always managed to
muddle through. I have every confidence that we shall
continue to do so.

Another instance that perhaps shows that it doesn't matter much what mob of shysters forms a government in Australia.

Bureaucrats in the ADF have determined that there is no national security risk that would justify stripping a Chinese company of the 99 year lease of the Port of Darwin (remember, that’s the one that horrified lefty US President Obama, and even Malcolm Turnbull, PM at the time).

Apolitical, and very smart, Michael Shoebridge, director of Australian Strategic Policy, says that the lease very obviously would not go through today, given the threat from Communist China. But, there it is, and looks like remaining, along with the continuing, worsening threat.

The Federal Labor member for Solomon (Darwin's electorate) has slammed the deal (don't know what said at the time of signing) saying, "the Coalition were asleep at the wheel when it waved through the lease".

Actually, Malcolm Turnbull had no power to stop it, thanks to our cranky Federation.

What a bunch of dills we are when it comes to politics and the well-being of our nation. Dills beget dills.

individual,

True, they are not waking up, and probably will not until it is too late.

I sometimes listen to talk back radio, and there was one character a couple of nights ago who came on, all on fire about how Australians should stop criticising the 'gumnent' and realise now much better off we are we in Australia than other countries. You know, the usual guff. When asked about countries once free but not anymore, and how we have to be vigilant to preserve our democracy, this peanut confidently assured the presenter that Australia could never lose democracy, and hung up. With too many idiots like that, I wouldn't put money on Australia still being a democracy by the end of this century.

Australia still being a democracy by the end of this century.
ttbn,
Well, looking at the present majority I really don't actually want a Democracy but hopefully the sane will outbreed the present lot before then. I can forsee that over the next three decades the children of those tattooed & stud-faced morons will become too embarrassed to take notice of them & will pursue a more sensible trend.
