Hi Foxy
re ASSANGE ASSANGE doesn't have the ABOVE THE LAW "because I'm GOD'S GIFT TO HUMANITY, WITH HEAD OF STATE status" that he and his followers entertain. Put another way, unfortunately for ASSANGE the Great he is subject to Skipping Bail laws like all we non-Great plebs. He skipped bail to the Ecuadorian Embassy, London, on 19 June 2012 until 11 April 2019, when he was arrested there. So looking at Wikipedia it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Assange#Arrest_in_the_embassy indicates: "On the afternoon of the day of his arrest, Assange was charged with breaching the Bail Act 1976 and was found guilty after a short hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court... Assange was remanded to HM Prison Belmarsh, and on 1 May 2019 he was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court to 50 weeks imprisonment" [FOR SKIPPING BAIL FOR ALL THOSE YEARS]. Hi Pete,
I was under the impression that Assange had already served the time for skipping bail in Britain. Why is he still in jail? Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 20 September 2020 1:20:37 PM

Saltpetre,
While its clear that Trump had little experience in government prior to becoming president, its unclear that that is such a bad thing. People who gain political office without having any experience outside politics are a danger to themselves and the people they claim to represent. Although Trump had no experience IN government he had more than enough experience OF government in his years as a developer. You should read the story of Trump and the New York Ice Rink to get an inkling of the type of things Trump had learnt during his decades in private enterprise about government and how it does and doesn't work. Sun Tu said something along the lines that if you know both sides, you cannot lose. Something like that has happened in the past 4 years. The problem with just having government people in government is that fresh ideas and fresh insights get crowded out. A perfect example of that is if the Abraham Accords. The 'experts' who'd been in the State Dept etc for decades just KNEW that peace required a two state solution. When Trump (and Krushner) looked at the problem from a new angle they were ridiculed by those with all the experience. When he pulled of Obama's Iran deal, disaster was predicted. When he moved the embassy to Jerusalem, people like Kerry predicted that violence would erupt all over the M-E. Instead, by coming at the problem from a new perspective and with fresh eyes, peace is breaking out in the M-E in ways that haven't been seen or anticipated for decades. Trump is the great disruptor and that's one of the reasons he's been so successful and popular. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 20 September 2020 1:57:53 PM

Foxy,
Assange is not in jail, he's on remand, awaiting the outcomes of the hearing in the British court whether or not to ship him off to the US. I suppose, if the US can make a strong enough case that he put many lives in jeopardy, and if the US can undertake not to electrocute him, then they may decide to pack him off to the US, where Trumpf can pardon him for services rendered. Just trying to help :) Joe Posted by loudmouth2, Sunday, 20 September 2020 3:46:40 PM
