From what we hear on American news media - according
to some political commentators, America is headed
towards a civil war unless drastic steps are taken.

As far as the Electoral College is concerned - there
is great discontent among the greater population at the
inequity of the election system where states with less
people can dictate to the rest of the population.

Imagine a president being elected with less than 3 million
votes over their opponent. Sounds corrupt by normal
standards. It should be up to the majority to elect their
president - anything else is heading for a dictatorship
and totalitarianism.

Trump is already an absolute ruler. It's no longer -
AMERICA.

It's now -

A
ME
RICA

And it's no longer the Republicans

But the

Retrumplicans.

SM.,

Interesting 'tu quoque' argument, your comment on the Australian Senate vis-a-vis the US Electoral College.

Yes, Tasmania gets as many Senators, with half a million people, as NSW with around nine million, eighteen times as much.

In the US, each State gets two Senators, California with twenty five million people, and Wyoming with half a million, a differential of fifty times, to contribute to the Electoral College. Wyoming, Montana, South and North Dakota, and Idaho, put together, have fewer people than the population of San Francisco. But ten Senators to the Electoral College.

I suppose every system has crazy anomalies like that :). Either way, they all beat the Chinese system of total party rule - well, total rule by the central committee of the Party. Well, no, total rule by the most [powerful and ruthless eight or nine or so rivals of the central committee; no, not even that: total rule of the king-pin, the capo da capo, of the ''Mighty Handful'. Xi Jin Ping.

Every communist/Bolshevik regime has been similar: the workers and peasants of the early Soviet Union were brutally ruled by the CPSU (B), which was ruled by a Central Committee, which was ruled by a tiny clique of Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Dzerzhinsky, Kalinin, Lunacharsky, Kamenev, Bukharin, and a few others; which was ruled ruthlessly by their capo da capo, Lenin; and then by Stalin, who then got rid of all of his comrades, one way or the other, usually with ice-picks or bullet.

But rotten, corrupt systems eventually collapse, one must hope. Come to think of it, even Trumpf's Swamp. Only 65 days (our time) to go :)

Trump has just appointed his good mate Alexander Lukashenko to count the votes, and his other good mate Vladimir Putin to sell the ballot papers. A small ballot costs $5 or 3 for $10. Call within the next fifteen minutes and you will receive a second set of ballot papers absolutely free.

BTW; there has been over 1,000,000 "losers and suckers" in American wars since 1776! Makes 200,000 deaths from Covid-19 look like a splash in the pan to The Donald.

Dear Paul,

"suckers and losers" indeed.

And this from a man who's not served in the military
and has received serial military deferments. And who
also had the audacity to say that Navy pilot and
Republican Senator from Arizona was not a war hero
because he was captured, tortured and held for 5
years in a North Vietnamese prison.

Trump said - "He's a war hero (only) because he was
captured", adding, "I like people that weren't captured".

A pity the dead can't vote.

Foxy,

Sorry, I was wrong ! Lousy maths. There's only 58 days (our time) until Trumpf's Swamp can start to be drained and proper democracy can be restored in the US, and political activity can get back to the Sensible Centre, and to the give and take of ordinary political daily life.

But only 58 days !

Love,

Joe
