I have always viewed American "democracy" with a high degree of scepticism. Is America as democratic as they portray themselves, or would have the rest of the world believe it to be. It appears to be a society built on an illusion of what is a democracy. The pretence created by the fanfare and hoopla about choosing who should be the Commander-in-Chief, or who should be the Supreme-Dog-Catcher, masks systemic problems of injustice and division within the society. No one can deny America is a country of fabulous wealth, and one that has made a huge contribution towards the betterment of mankind in so many fields. At the same times as these great achievements have been taking place the society has been deeply divided between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots'. So many Americans have received little more than the crumbs from achievement and wealth creation because of inequalities created by the lack of opportunity, opportunities only reserved for the privileged class in that society.
Trump, because of his stupidly highlights the systemic divisions in American society, he plays to those divisions for his own political purposes. Trump is a nasty, Biden is a nice version of Trump, but he still basically stands for what Trump stands for. Sure, if elected Biden will probely tinker around the edges at some of Americas deep seated social problems, but realistically he offers no chance of any systemic shift to a truly equal society, even if he gets elected to both jobs, Commander-In-Chief and Supreme-Dog-Catcher.
