Belly we may not be able to defend ourselves against China, but with a will, I am damn sure we can repel any water born invasion by a rabble.

Provided we refuse to listen to bleeding hearts, we will be just fine.

So too may our homeless.

Is that U *Pork Belly?*

("How churlish of me")

Haha3 .. it has been too long old friend, but often were the times I thought of you, most especially when celebrating victories against the Rock Spiders.

..

Both my first and second wives were from Asia. Both of them only had rudimentary primary school educations. I spent not insignificant chunks of my life upskilling them such that they could competently stand on their own two feet here. It is a huge undertaking. And I don't think that is fair on anyone to dump refugees into this economy.

Neither is offshore detention appropriate and those responsible for depriving children of their liberty, without charge or trial and then binning them offshore in circumstances known to produce adverse medical outcomes, including irreversible psychiatric harm, to the extent that at least one honorable australian hospital refused to discharge their patients back to whence they had come, are quite plainly vile little child abusers and deserve to be locked in pain amplifiers for the rest of their lives, by way of retrospective laws as required.

The solution has always been simple. Asylum seekers can and must always be able to come as they may. And we should do everything we can to augment those processes to ensure their safety.

But whilst we should happily accept them onto the continent, for many reasons we ought not permit them to enter the economy until such time as they have been successfully security screened, trained and otherwise proven themselves competent.

For that we create camps where only a Traditional Black Fella or Bedouin would have any chance of escaping. We make it be a special economic zone with "monopoly money." We maintain a military presence and train peacekeepers therein, ideally of the bi and multilingual variety in sufficient numbers to ensure peace and security for all, unlike schools who have 10 mountains of crap on paper about their anti-bullying policies but in reality, are staffed by people who sit around ingratiating themselves in the staff room when most of the bullying is occurring.

I think of it more like a game of "Civilisation" where you start with cave people, and then work your way up.

The refugees, of course, are to be integrally involved in the ongoing maintenace and construction of the facilities, with guidance.

in parts of w.a. the very earth itself is an ideal construction material and with a little nous makes great tennis courts. I trust you get my drift.

..

What is lacking currently is a willingness to adapt. Wars aside, the potential for climate change to cause horrendous upheaval is significant. You must choose between letting people suffer and die or not.

..

and what did that repugnant ghoul morrison say today .. something to the effect that australia only produces 0.02 (or 0.2) of global emissions so even if we reduced our emissions to zero it wouldn't change anything. What a moronic thing to say as:

1. whilst it may be true that the overall amount of emissions would only change slightly, you must consider this phenomena more as a raging power that needs to be subdued and harnessed.

For example, in an artificial greenhouse environment the addition of excess co2 to a point turns normal-sized vegetables into veg fit for the Wallace & Gromit giant veg competition, if you can control the temperature.

2. you cannot influence other nation-states by telling them what to do, but rather, by doing something brilliant and allowing it to be seen, they will absorb what is useful to them.

3. How climate change comes down on a local level can either be a blessing or a curse and will vary greatly from place to place. And I suspect we are going to see some very out there meteorological phenomena in the days to come. For example, where would you rather be on a hot summers day? On a filthy black road, or on bricks half grassed as you see in Indo, surrounded by beautiful trees? Thus, regardless of what the overall amount of greenhouse gasses is, how it manifests on a local level is a much more complex equation.

Not going to try to spell that name but good morning hope you are well
Hasbeen beg to differ,ww2 again remember those refugees on packed roads?
IF war, famine, or illness, breaks out watch the refuge numbers grow by more than the total number of us here
In fact current refugee flows are far bigger than our countrys population
I we had involvement in that war, would we have the reserves to control our borders?
Even with my plan in place and working we would be hard pressed
Let's be honest, yes AID much much more of it, if not for my reason, building a better world self defense, helping refugees stay home
And while Loudmouth [clearly a thinking person] see,s my concern as silly
Now is the time to consider world population growth, numbers this country can take, asking too is now the time to ask is moving the population around rather than controlling it the only way to travel

rEPRUSu,
People will adapt to Climate Change in the same way they always have since day 1. Those who don't will cop the short end of the stick !
Morrison is correct in saying that a tiny bit of reduction in emission here isn't going to make any difference to global climate patterns.
What is needed is birth control as there are too many humans demanding too much from the finite resources. Humans are a great resource themselves but only if they're not stupid, alas !
The Bushfires aren't unprecedented at all. What is unprecedented is the number of houses built surrounded by dry bushland hence the greater damage reported. Also unprecedented is the stupidity of authorities who ban preventative back burning but then again, they don't get out of their emission spewing air conditioned facilities so that's why they make such idiotic decisions.

indy by the end of summer, not likely till late Autumn, we will have had a seven months summer
By then the current 600 homes lost will be close to two thousand
We and the world will have no doubt this drought is horrific
We saw the fires in Greece, and the Arctic circle, california, the extreme snow storms right now across the USA
Maybe it is not climate change but it is extreme
Water we need more water not more people
