Bazz,
Yeah, why not ! We could start more Cotton farms too and, if we run short of water even sooner we can scream climate change & demand Govts to do "something".
We could bring that screeching teenager from Scandinavia to Australia to push for "something" to be done !

Bazz forgive indy, if he understood the subject he would agree with my plan
You however do, at least know population growth has impacts
Right now not far from here we see water rationing worse than ever before
We if we had even another 500 would be stretched by that water shortage
Add homes land fit to live on ,see some never will be, food at times like this,
Every country has a limit to how many it can house feed and provide work for
Right now the numbers of refugees worldwide is in the millions
IF war breaks out? if famine hits again? multiply that by ten
Handling our borders is important, one day our very survival may depend on it

Just as a reminder: Australia has a quota of around nineteen thousand refugees each year. (For some comparison, New Zealand's is around five hundred). And there are occasionally special humanitarian intakes, Yazidis and Mandeans and Christians from Syria, for example. I'm relatively happy with that.

Let's not manufacture some heartless policy of 'no refugees at all allowed to come to Australia'.

So let's discuss this issue on that basis.

Joe

Loudmouth we have disagreed on world population and will continue to
It may surprise you but I agree with bringing the victims of the more primitive sections of Islam here
To am more than willing for us to double our refugee intake
If it was part of a border control that ended the boats forever
However maybe I am a closet racist, see I want us to select who comes
I want too an end to the deliberate separatism we have seen too much of here
Nice words humber knee bending will not change this truth
Those Muslims who took part in that Sydney riot, over cartoons for griefs sake, should never have arrived here, let us be selective
And stop being blinded by that word multiculturalism
I am disturbed by recent cases of minorities using true racist lies claiming normal reaction to something they have done wrong is racist
A young Aussie sports man full of talent but unable to control his ego is the latest of many
We suffer if truth is branded racist and we are told not to talk about it

Belly I'm sure the homeless of our major cities will be very pleased with your idea of doubling the number of new chums to fill what ever public housing we still have for years & decades.

What is it with Labor people that they never count the cost of their ideas.

Hasbeen are you aware of this threads intentions?
Do you see, world wide, the flow is out of control
What if war breaks out full on in the near Asian region? can you not see millions trying to come here
Both sides of Federal politics want to continue migration
Think, in fact know, in the short term it feeds growth
I firmly think we should both increase aid and continue to take refugees
As said the double the intake was after a solution had been reached ,to reward the host country
Not a forever thing
