A solution I have always favoured, and one that would stop the people trafficking trade is to swap every illegal entrant for two, or even three, people from the horrendous camps in Africa. Chose people who have been waiting for years. Surely the UNHCR would be agreeable to this and people trying to come here illegally would soon learn of this scheme and realise they would end up in the camps and not this country.
Similar to the Malaysian scheme but would put them further away from here and discourage another attempt.
