Abbott had his chance to reduce immigration when he was PM and do away completely with multiculturalism, but failed to do either.

This might sound like something out of left field, but its certainly not new in Aussie politics, its all happened before. What if Turnbull was to throw down the gauntlet to Abbott, demanding that he and his conservative supporters leave the Liberal Party to the liberals. Dump the Nationals, and Turnall's Liberals form a coalition government with Labor, I'll buy that. You might have Bill Shorten as PM and Malcolm Turnbull as deputy. What the heck, I think they could work together to form a half decent government, maybe.
They would have a good sized majority in the house of reps, and control of the Senate.

The backpacker tax must be $ 13.758453 , time and half on Sundays at reduced .1375 tax and plastic cups for child-care orange juice
(Australian not Brazil). CFMEU gets a double office in Malcolm's Mansion , cappuccino and choice of oysters or abalone with wasabi.

Some union heavies, past and present, do live high on the hog.

I am not surprised you would buy such a catastrophe Paul.

Shorten & Turnbull would be about on a par with KRudd & Gillard. God help us, about the only worse pair I can imagine would be a reincarnated Stalin & Mao Tse-tung, & I am not sure they would be worse than the Shorten & Turnbull clowns.

If either of these two fools actually lead our next government it will be time to immigrate to somewhere better governed. Afghanistan or perhaps New Guinea would have to offer a better future than Oz after more of their stupidity.

Should Abbott move on, most definitely not. We need him more than we ever did, even if only as a thunder cloud hanging over Turnbull, to keep his more stupid & ridiculous ideas exposed & opposed.

The best outcome would be locking the main suspects up on Friday arvo and not let them out until they get agreements. Or make a list of proposals as a dart board and see which gets the most hits.
