Dear Danielle,

Thank you for making my point so eloquently.

My post was pretty much entirely devoted to kicking the bejeepers out of fundamentalist Christanity, particularly one of its most highly regarded leaders in the US and I mention one small thing about Judaism and suddenly I'm a malicious Jew-hating demigod. You really need to dial it down a touch.

At the very beginning of the Wikipedia article I posted was a summarized bio for Taylor stating "Religion - Previously Christianity, now Judaism". Should I not have referred to it at all because it may have caused offense?

You have been more than happy swanning about this thread pouring buckets over Muslims and Islam but it is hardly edifying to then react in that manner to something that innocuous. It is bullying behaviour.

back to topic, C. Steele :)

There is always somebody worse. You don't 'disprove' one thing by 'proving' another.

I remember complaining to a friend about corruption in some organisations I was trying to do something for. He said, "Well, what about X City Council, they're pretty corrupt." Not being too bright, it took me a long time to realise that I should have said something like, "Yeah, but if I wouldn't want to work for X City Council because they are corrupt, why the hell should I want to work for Y organisation, which is just as corrupt ?"

Fundamentalism, Schmundamentalism - this thread is about Muslims, and not all Muslims, rioting, with the suspicion that those who did are dedicated to bringing about the Khilafa, the Caliphate, the rule of the Book over all humans on Earth - that or be put to the sword.

When Korean fundamentalist Christians reach out to butcher this atheist, I will give a toss about Korean fundamentalists. But I haven't heard anything about their desire to take over the world, as the notion of Caliphate explicitly directs.

But of course, if you want to be a useful idiot in an extreme right-wing cause, feel free. The thing about democracies, imperfect as they may be, is that idiots can do as they please. Just reflect for once, what might happen if your particular lot of right-wing fundamentalists had power over you, as a sort of pseudo-Leftist, would they let you live ? or would you be sitting down on that river-bank waiting for some brave b@stard with a machine-gun. A real man, in a male-dominated world. Isn't culture wonderful ?

Cheers,

Joe

Csteele,

Please enlighten us as to where we have been wrong about Middle Eastern Muslims? If I have been wrong, then I will admit to it. But one can't ignore herds of elephants galloping round the room. This does not help them if they want to be a viable alternative religion.

We are discussing Middle Eastern Islam in the 21st century. Many would like to know what, and if, this means something to the rest of the world. They are not innocuous, they have strong beliefs, they are, like Christianity, a proselyting religion. I personally believe that many of the problem practices evident in the religion pre-date Islam.

Do you think that they will go through a period of enlightenment as seen in the West? Do they have the necessary latitude? They seem to be hitting the wall in Europe.

If Islamic Boznia-Hertzegovina can have a secular and democratic society, free of certain practices, why can't Islam of the Middle East? This is a valid anthropological question.

OUG I read every thing you post mate, and you did very well there.
Jayb you put a lot of work in to your posts.
But unfortunately will be able to post such lists forever.
In this thread just read the links.
Both sides of politics, world leaders, just about everyone agrees, with the MAJORITY VIEWS HERE.
A primitive captured view of the west, driven by a religion that preaches death and hate.
From where if not, does all this hate in defense of a God our very history proves came long after others .
In a world teaching evolution we let some insist we let fables control us and twist many who follow it.
It is even claimed no riot took place, it was peaceful?
Such are the verbal ak47,s aimed at us who express concerns.

Dear CSteele,

You’re a tricky fellow CSteele. We’re talking about China and suddenly you jump across to South Korea. When Poirot made the quip above that you were, quote: << a rare bird>> I had the image of a booby or a penguin (not that either of then are rare). But considering your propensity to drop on the field from above, a seagull might be a better fit.

But, hey, we’ll run with South Korea. I hope you are not serious suggesting that your little account of the happenings in South Korea (which you trot out at every opportunity) equates with what Islam inspires in Nigeria, Pakistan ,Indonesia, South Thailand, and from those (“not treated very well”) Moros in Mindanao –are you?

I mean, just take a look at the list that Jayb has provided – surely not even you could be that obtuse?

Thanks Belly. Unfortunately I didn't have a link, just a list at the time. If I did have a link would anyone her looked at it. Not going by my last lot of link postings as they have been completely ignored, by everybody, which is quite frustrating. At least a list of 12 days out of 30 got a look at. I did have trouble with the 385 word limit that's why there were some double ups & a couple missing.

It would be nice of all of you to comment on those links.

I just wanted to show that the middle Eastern problem has little to do with the West. The West cops the blame for anything that happens anywhere in the ME. (The Shiite & the Sunni go head to head, then they demonstrate against the West claiming that it our fault. Eh!)

My questions are:

Do we want their problems spilling over into Australia?
I don't think so.

If we upset the Muslims that are here, will Indonesia get offended & start a war with Australia in defence of Islam?
A good possibility. Australia defacto provides for Indonesia Social Welfare which allows them to spend more on their Defence Force?

Do Australians have to change their happy go lucky nature & culture to accommodate Islamic beliefs?
I don't think so.
