Dear Danielle,

The whole damn world is incredibly PC about Israel. If it were any other country it would be regarded an apartheid state of terribly racist, brutal occupiers, flouting International Law and UN resolutions, and led by war criminals.

And I am certainly not immune. I still find it frustrating that I continually feel the need to use Jewish voices to make my point. At some stage I will have to be brave enough to start quoting Palestinian voices though I am sure it will bring greater condemnation on my head.

I am not there yet.

Dear Jayb,

Thank you for your post addressing Poirot.

I have looked at your numbers from the site www.religionofpeace.org. I was about to chide you for not including the source but realised I have made the same omission with my Korean list.

Glen Reinsford is certainly thorough and I'm not about to challenge his figures without good cause though you seemed to have doubled up a few times unless there are triumvirates of immodestly dressed actresses wandering the streets of Kabul. Of all the countries he covers and all the hundreds of millions of people in so many war-torn areas he seems to have delivered a rate of around 23 per day going on your figures. These are indeed shocking.

What I find a little presumptuous is that Mr Reinsford comes from a country where the murder rate is at least 10 times that on any given day. Indeed there are many young Americans who are safer doing a tour in Iraq or Afghanistan than they would be in their own neighbourhoods.

375 dead, 798 injured in 12 days. Not bad for Blue on Blue in the Muslim World. I haven't added up the 30 days.

Can you imagine what they would do to Non-Muslims in a World Caliphate? One thing about it, we wouldn't have to worry about World overpopulation or Green House Gasses would we? The world would plunge back to the 7th.Century overnight solving that problem.

Well csteel, I'll have to agree with you on that lot. It's mostly those Weirdo Baptists & their offshoots along with SDA's & JH's. Christian Fundamentalist Taliban & just as bad as Islamic & Jewish Fundamentalists. All Fundamentalists of any description, including Greenie & the Politically Correct ones are the source of many big problem in today’s World.

Thank you csteel. Yes the statistics for Denver alone are horrific. There were more murders in one year than American dead in the whole time the US was in Iraq.

My wife is travelling to the US for 3 weeks in the New Year. Our Granddaughter is competing in a few invitational Gymnastics Competitions. I have refused to go. The reason. I've already been to a War Zone & I'm not interested in going to another. Even though it's Blue on Blue.

Dear Jayb,

Yes fundamentalists certainly can be a different breed. Danielle's post on child soldiers had me reflecting on the notorious Charles Taylor, one of the few the world has managed to bring to justice on the charge of “Conscripting or enlisting children under the age of 15 years into armed forces or groups, or using them to participate actively in hostilities”. The verdict was announced in The Hague earlier this year. Guilty! He was also found guilty of, amongst other things, terrorism, rape, sexual slavery and murder.

In 2003 when congress offered $2,000,000 for Taylor's capture Pat Robertson, who is arguably the most well known, powerful, fundamentalist Christian leader in the United States, responded by accusing President George W. Bush of "undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country."

Why?

It turns out that “Taylor had extensive business dealings with American televangelist Pat Robertson during the civil war and gave Robertson the rights to mine for diamonds in Liberia's mineral-rich countryside. According to two Operation Blessing pilots who reported this incident to the Commonwealth of Virginia for investigation in 1994, Robertson used his Operation Blessing planes to haul diamond-mining equipment to his new mines in Liberia, despite the fact that Robertson was telling his 700 Club viewers that the planes were sending relief supplies to the victims of the genocide in Rwanda. The subsequent investigation by the Commonwealth of Virginia concluded that Robertson diverted his ministry's donations to the Liberian diamond-mining operation, but Attorney General of Virginia Mark Earley blocked any potential prosecution against Robertson, as the relief supplies were also sent.”

Dealing in 'blood diamonds' and with war criminals and he yet has the gall to lecture other Americans on moral behaviour?

Now whenever I hear Robertson bang on about Muslims I wonder what personal interests is he trying to protect?

Taylor later converted to Judaism.

May your wife and granddaughter have a safe and uneventful trip.

Csteele,

The PC crowd and Israel ... Hardly! It is very safe to criticise Israel without discussing the issues in context, isn't it? Your rider is uninformed as anyone who bothers to do the minimum of research knows. As demonstrated in the past, your arguments are not sustainable. Israel is not perfect, but it is certainly not the way you love to present it. Two words, steele: “Taqiyya” and “Kitman.”

You write ....

"Taylor later converted to Judaism." Hardly “converted. ” “Taylor's wife said that he still believes in Christ and hoped to embrace both religions simultaneously. " When, where and by whom did this 'conversion' take place... ?

You really have an issue with Jews don't you? It is not surprising that you “drop” this into the discussion. But more importantly, what relevancy does it have? One can only assume that it is intended to be malicious. It bears out Martin Luther King observation that those who are anti-Israel, are anti-Semites.

But ... you are using diversionary tactics to move away from the issue … The discussion is about Islam of the Middle East.

Yabby,

"...you mean the Govt which had nationalised the oil industry in Iran, after it had been built, developed and financed by the West....if third world Govts think that is their right to steal..."

Well that's a biased take on the greed and control the Brits exercised over Iranian resources.
