I'm not sure she was Palestinian, she sounded Aussie to me.
http://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3803828569944581 I don't blame the girl for saying no, I might've too. I don't think I'd be happy about laminating something which has the Australian and Jewish flag side by side in solidarity when Israel is committing genocide. He wants things to laminate and put on his wall while the nation he supports is involved in genocide - against the decisions of the worlds highest court? Go ahead fire her. http://www.australianjewishnews.com/jew-refused-service-by-pro-palestine-staff-member/ >>“At Officeworks, we do not discriminate against our customers on the basis of political views, religious beliefs, gender, sexuality or race.” Hunter said Officeworks has provided ongoing training and education to team members so that they understand the importance of treating all customers with respect and dignity. “Arising out of this incident relevant team members received education through the Melbourne Holocaust Museum,” she said.<< OMG they are so pathetic. 'You must make them do Holocaust education' - 'Piss off, don't care about what happened 80 years ago before I was born and what isn't my fault, but I do care about what YOU are doing TODAY. Silly girl should've said no, not interested in your attempt to manipulate sympathy for stuff that happened 80 years ago. What happened to you people 80 years ago, you've been doing ever since. If they fired her, she could've taken officeworks to the cleaners. 'You think 80 years of killing Palestinians can be excused because of what Hitler did?' - Feck off don't insult my intelligence. (not directed at you ttbn) I may even consider boycotting officeworks myself now, for demanding their staff take Holocaust education. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:12:56 PM

You have clearly never been in business. With your take on the appalling attitude of that employee, you would go broke. I have been in business, and I assure you that I would have sacked her on the spot. Not because she was pro-Palestinian, but because she brought her politics into my business and refused to do what I paid her to do: service customers. I would also have furnished the customer with what he wanted, for no charge, and a big apology, in order to keep his custom in the future. What a self-entitled, arrogant little biddy she was, bringing into disrepute the very organisation that provided her with a job. In business, you provide what the customer wants, and keep your politics to yourself - or get a job where you don't have to deal with people. If a customer wanted a picture of Osama bin Laden laminated, he too would be treated like any other customer. Politics and business do not mix. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 1 August 2024 11:20:36 PM

Dear Armchair Critic, . You wrote : 1. « It seemed to be fairly clear to me they were mocking the last supper. » Yes, Armchair Critic, lots of people think that. As Donald the Dictator taught us : “The facts don’t count. It’s what people think are the facts that counts”. People see what they believe and do not see what they do not believe or ignore. For what it’s worth, here is an article that describes the situation : http://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/29/olympic-last-supper-scene-based-painting-greek-gods-art-experts Also, in case you are interested, as Dionysus was painted blue at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, perhaps I should explain that the colour “blue” has a political significance in France. At the time of the French Revolution, blue was the colour of the Republicans, and was opposed to the white of the Monarchists, the black of the Clerical party, and the red of the Revolutionaries. After the First World War, it became conservative and was adopted by the gendarmerie and the police. Nevertheless, it is consensual by essence and is unanimously considered a symbol of consensus and peace. It became the official colour of international organizations such as UNESCO, the UN (the Blue Helmets), and the European Union. . 2. « What on earth does promoting tolerance of different sexual and gender identities have to do with sport anyway? » Yes, that question is a little more subtle and a bit more difficult to grasp. I don’t think “promoting tolerance of different sexual and gender identities” has anything to do with sport. But I think that sport, and the Olympic Games in particular, can and does foster a healthy attitude of sympathy and admiration for people striving to attain excellence in whatever endeavour they undertake, irrespective of their colour, gender, nationality, normality, or otherwise. As Deng Xiaoping famously said, "It doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice." That’s probably the most anti-racist and anti-sexist statement I’ve ever heard. . Dear Foxy, . You wrote : « Many still follow pagan customs even today. My Gran used to sprinkle holy water around the house during severe storms when it thundered to appease the God of thunder - Perkunas. She took no chances. » . Yes, Foxy, paganism, superstition and religion have never left us. They are all deeply embedded in our DNA. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Friday, 2 August 2024 1:01:55 AM

What really offends me ttbn is the self entitlement.
The fake outrage, or maybe it's not fake. 'Sack her, send her to Holocaust education'. 'How dare anyone refuse a Jew service?' I just want it laminated that Australians and Jews holding up flags together in solidarity. Sorry dude - there's no solidarity on this issue. I'm not laminating a Jewish and Australian flag in solidarity in the middle of a genocide. Not happening. Buy your own laminator and do it yourself. Your nation is a terrorist state and the way it's been acting of late. Israeli's trying to defend shoving broomsticks and vegetables up one of the 20,000 Palestinian hostages in Israeli torture facilities up the ar$e. They are truthfully acting like NAZI SS. And the Israei government policy might be about equal to gas chambers. I'm about one step away from publicly stating that Israel has no right to exist and deserves nothing less than to be wiped off the face of the earth. I shouldn't speak so harshly, because honestly I think it may actually happen soon. They've been protected by America for so long they literally think they are beyond being accountable for anything. They've broken 65 UN resolutions without consequences. Well some people don't like alignment with Israel during a busy period in an 80 year genocide. In case you don't know Bibis plan has always been to TAKE IT ALL and then some, Greater Israel plan. I'm not sure what God they serve, but he's probably got horns. And as for Officeworks - they've lost my business. Boycott. I'll just buy from Mega Office Supplies instead. http://megaofficesupplies.com.au/ That's what you get for sending your staff to Holocaust education in the middle of an ICJ confirmed ongoing genocide, and assassinating hundreds of journalists and tens of thousands of women and kids. Told you all before I don't care for rapists. http://x.com/DrLoupis/status/1818574456102457635 http://x.com/Dayanneaci/status/1818589188792492287 Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 2 August 2024 2:19:00 AM

A Jewish man went into a Melbourne branch of Officeworks to have a Jewish newspaper laminated.
A Palestinian shop assistant refused to do it.
The man has taken Officeworks to the appropriate authority.
At the very least, Officeworks should sack the shop assistant.
