Homeaffairs.gov.au tells us that it was in 1978 that the
first official national multicultural policies were implemented by the Fraser Government in accord with the recommendations of the Galbally Report in the context of government programs and services for migrants. In October 2016 the government formally reaffirmed its commitment to racial respect. The Prime Minister moved a Statement on racial tolerance in the Australian Parliament's House of Representatives. The Statement read: This House: 1) Reaffirms its commitment to the right of all Australians to enjoy equal rights and be treated with equal respect regardless of race, colour, creed or origin. 2) Reaffirms its commitment to maintaining an immigration policy wholly non-discriminatory on grounds of race, colour, creed or origin. 3) Reaffirms the commitment to the process of reconciliation with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the context of redressing their profound social and economic disadvantage. 4) Reaffirms its commitment to maintain Australia as a culturally diverse, tolerant, and open society united by an overriding commitment to our nation, and its democratic institutions and values and - 5) Denounces racial intolerance in any form as incompatible with the kind of society we are and want to be. This Statement was supported by the Opposition Leader and was carried unanimously. In the Western English-speaking countries multiculturalism as an official national policy started in Canada in 1971 followed by Australia in 1973 and it was in 1978 that the first official national policies were implemented. Where they are maintained today. These were quickly adopted as official policy by most member-states of the European Union. A mother, Sakina Muhammad Jan, has been identified as the first person in Australia to be convicted of causing a person to enter into a forced marriage.
Startlingly, the offence has been law for only a decade in this country, although enforced multiculturalism has been with us for 50 years. During that time, there have been periodic rumblings about young girls being sent back to their parents’ homeland to marry men they didn’t know. Nothing was done because, hey, multiculturalism is so “successful”. Don't want to rock the boat. Don't want to admit how wrong we got it. Not even friendly warnings that that sort of thing is not on here. Well the stupidity of the naive expectations of alien cultures just fitting in are now in the MSM. This woman's 21 year daughter was murdered by the man she was forced to marry 6 months after the wedding. He is doing a life sentence. The prosecutor wants the mother in jail too, to send a message to the “community”. But, this is in Melbourne where judges are more interested in looking up innocent Cardinals than non- white minority imports. Also deserving jail are the politicians who thought that all they had to do was introduce multiculturalism (without our permission) and everything would be fine. "Since forced marriage was criminalised in 2013, significant
steps have been taken by government, civil society, and communities to better identify and protect those vulnerable or subject to forced marriage in Australia." "However, despite those often collaborative efforts more effective strategies are needed which focus on prevention and early intervention. To do this we need to better understand how Australian communities are impacted by forced marriages, how they best respond, and what they think can be done to prevent it at the community level." "Most of all, we need to understand the experiences and advice of affected communities, what has worked, and what is needed to truly have a community led response." To this end, the Australian Red Cross has undertaken a series of consultations with communities. There's more at the following: http://www.redcross.org.au/globalassets/cms-assets/documents/migration-services/forced-marriage-community-voices-stories-and-strategies-australian-red-cross.pdf Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 23 July 2024 10:33:39 PM

Dear ttbn, . You wrote : « Multiculturalism should never have been inflicted upon us, but it is now entrenched, with dingbats even claiming it to be “successful” … » . Each one in turn seems to be the name of the game, ttbn. First came the pterodactyls and brontosauruses, then the Aboriginal tribes wandered in from Africa after a 15,000 km casual stroll around the globe. About 65,000 years later, the British dumped a load of convicted criminals on the island continent and left them there to sort themselves out. They dumped some more from time to time and created a colony, chasing the Aboriginal tribes off their land and parking them in isolated reserves like animals in a zoo. The first free settlers arrived in 1793. They were the rich ones. The poor ones arrived soon after when the British colonial government began to pay the transportation costs and provide them with free (Aboriginal) land to develop, free agricultural tools and convict labour. As you (didn’t) say, ttbn : « Multiculturalism should never have been inflicted upon [them], but it is now entrenched, with dingbats even claiming it to be “successful” … » All that's history. There's no turning back now. Australia has irremediably become a multicultural country. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Tuesday, 23 July 2024 11:22:31 PM

The old bigoted racists is at it again, the history of multiculturalism here is well documented. News for ttbn, if you lump together 27 million people a percentage are going to be criminals, committing criminal acts.
I don't agree with arranged marriages what so ever, not the ones arranged by Southern Europeans in Australia post war, or any arranged by people from the Middle East or anywhere else today. Wasn't it terrible how 61,514 Australians died in a far off European war in 1914-18, or wasn't it terrible how 'Pig Iron' Bob made his "Melancholic Duty" speech in 1939 dragging Australia into yet another European war. Then there was Korea, Vietnam and a host of other far flung wars that were none of Australia's business, however many Australians fought and died in them. The truth is, this thread is the usual guff, ttbn is not against immigration as long as it's pure of race, white Anglo Saxons, excluding all others. This is the same bloke who was touting votes for the out and out racists One Nation party not so long ago. Posted by Paul1405, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 5:41:57 AM

I have to admit that I am disappointed that only idiots have shown any interest in the subject of multiculturalism; and I am not going to bother myself with them, except to note that one of the morons still can't tell the difference between race and culture.

On mass immigration in general, one of the government's pals, the ANZ bank, is warning of big rises in unemployment, with hundreds of applicants for one job. Not that that will worry most posters, who spend all day in their underpants viewing the world on a screen, waiting for someone to put up a topic so that they can argue pointlessly with another idiot.

Hundreds of applicants for one job?
Tell that to our farmer's. They will be so happy to hear that. As they have had to rely on backpackers and immigrants in the past. Also our hospitals, aged-care facilities, and vital services will also breathe a sigh of relief - as will our transport services who rely on migrants for fulfilling the essential jobs - like taxi drivers, bus, tram and tram drivers, and the list goes on. Regional Australia will be so glad to receive more doctors and nurses and teachers. Good news all round. Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 10:07:50 AM

I almost wish everyone looked the same.
No black, no white, everyone look exactly the same like dna clone of everyone else. That way when I say 'Tell 'em to feck off' - I can't be accused of being racist. Never mind the road full of potholes and everyones cars are getting wrecked and roadworks I have to drive on and through - 30 minutes to go somewhere that used to take 10 Never mind the extensive waits for ambulances or visits to emergency Never mind that some places become no-go zones. Never mind that I go to see the doctor and can't understand a word the bloke says anyway because he's from Bangladesh. It's not because I don't like rapid increase of population in my area, crap roads, extensive emergency waits or the fact my mum could need an ambulance and die waiting for it, or that I can't understand what the doctor says... Or that the government diverts billions in prudent essential services to spend on stupid woke agendas that only cause more division. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 10:07:52 AM

It's not because I oppose poor policies - no Nothing to do with oor policy or incompetence on merit. They have to pull the racist card and beat me over the head with it into submission in a way I can't oppose it so they can continue their trough-snout grift. I mean tell me 'Closing the gap' Is it not a money sink, ideology over common sense? How the hell is Edwin who lives 200klm west of Uluru, going to have access to the same health services and benefits of a community that I do 20 mins from a large local hospital and an hour from major city hospitals. He aint got no woolies or local buildings full of specialists. They probably don't even have access to fresh veggies. How are you realistically going to make things equal? You can't. If he wants to live there, then he'll suffer for it. What do you want to do? Build a mater childrens hospital in Ooodnadatta and convince all the specialists to go live there, or give the people there free flights? Its a money sink and it will never be equal. You have all these idiot chiefs in government coming up with stupidly thought out policies and none are accountable to anyone. - Much of it based on unsound ideology. Who occupies the senior top positions? Who makes the decisions? And you're blaming the people who actually do the work and do as they're told? And it's all their fault? Right. We get it. Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 10:12:23 AM

BTW:
Most migrants speak more than one language. Hold down more than one job. And ask for nothing from anybody. They work at jobs that nobody else wants and this has always been the case. Be grateful. 'If it wasn't for immigration Australia would have remained a cultural backwater.
Now this is the part that REALLY REALLY OFFENDS ME. WE don't want yours or anyone else culture. Our culture is 'any bloody thing EXCEPT TAKING UP YOURS' MY AUSTRALIAN CULTURE is defined as 'NOT BEING IMPOSED UPON BY YOURS OR ANYONE ELSES' - 'Tell 'em to go and get stuffed'. Leave your foreign culture at the door or don't come here. This s not the country you came from. This is not a country that is fresh unfired clay you can mould to your own liking. I like it better untainted. WE don't want yours or anyone elses culture. Don't come here from a foreign country and start talking about culture. - Or our lack of it. It's our lack of culture that made it what it was for you to come here so stop ruining it by trying to impose your own culture upon us. And if you don't get that, I'm not sure you were ever really 'Aussia' Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 10:41:53 AM

Armchair Critic,
I was born in this country. My parents were invited by the Australian Government to come here as displaced persons, refugees, after World WarII fleeing from the Soviet Regime, to fill the labour shortage at the time. They had to sign 2 year contracts and work whereever the government sent them. They fulfilled their contracts and then became permanent residents. My parents did not force their culture onto anybody. Nor did they ask for anything from anybody. They worked hard and raised and supported their family. Gave us an education - and also saw to it that we contributed to this country, just as they had done. You Sir, owe me and my family an apology. How long does it take in your books to become a "true Aussie?" Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 11:10:38 AM

Australia was a cultural backwater stuck in the past
before the abolition of the White Australia policy. When my parents arrived after WWII - Australia was very primitive. Christmas decorations consisted of paper streamers and balloons. No glass decorations. Food choices were very limited. As were education choices, especially for females who were expected to marry and be supported. Thanks to migrants the country has changed. Migrants have found success in every field of endeavour - including the arts, sport, media, science, medicine, research, education, business, food, entertainment, civic and community life. Their contributions are extremely diverse. All have felt motivated to "give back" to society and they continue and will continue to do so. Migration has diversified the skill levels of the population, increased economies, and fostered innovation and flexibility. Migrants have benefited Australia enormously. As for the myth of migrants "enforcing" anything? Migrants have like everyone else had to comply to the country's laws and regulations. Just to jog some memories - here is a list of just a few migrants who contributed to this country: Anh Doh, Les Murray, Frank Lowy, Sidney Myer, Ilsa and John Konrads, E. Borovansky, (the father of Australian Ballet). just to name a few. Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 12:05:46 PM

No time to change out of his underpants, no need down there at the Shady Pines Retirement Home for Old Farts. Now the idiot whose parents were born in Europe is trying to get on the poor-me, minority multicultural bandwagon, when her culture is European, the same as the rest of the majority.
She apparently has a mania to be different so she can whine about it. That fits in with being the only female on OLO most of the time. Most other women would be horrified by her. The woman fits with the general belief that the migrants are generally OK, but the first generation born here are not. She is obnoxious. Her own threads are filled up with her non-stop nagging, and posts from people who disagree with everything she says. Her only allies are a Green, and a bloke who doesn't even live here, and has taken Banjo Patterson's name in vain. As for her ignorant remark about farmers and labour, it was the Albanese government that scrapped the rural visas, and stopped backpackers from harvesting. I acknowledge my ancestors who settled this country and made it what it is. I honour the men who fought in two world wars to keep us free. All before any imports arrived here. While the politicians and their puppeteers are rotting the country with every culture on earth, no matter how inappropriate to a Western country like Australia, there have been no tradespeople immigrating to help with the extra housing needed.
Boofheads is a word not too impolite to describe the people overseeing the ridiculous number of people lowering Australia's GDP per capita via the immigration of people who can barely speak enough English to drive a taxi. Australia is still short of most employment skills, despite the mass influx of suffocating DEI types. Posted by ttbn, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 4:37:43 PM

Gotta agree with Foxy there... those immigrants who arrived here between 1788 and 1850 most certainly improved the cultural standing of the country. Nothing improves the cultural outlook of a nation like moving out of the stone age. Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 5:13:23 PM

I've mentioned this on these pages many times over the years, but we need to recognise the difference between the country being multicultural and the country having multiculturalism as a policy.
We have people here from many cultures and have had for at least two centuries and arguably much longer than that. So we are multicultural. But we have a policy of multiculturism, instituted in the last 50 years which says that we need to treat all cultures as equal and of equal value to the nation. That's been a disaster for this country and every country that went down that path Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 5:18:08 PM

To add insult to injury, the Albanese Government has offered Australian taxpayer money for scholarships to employees of the Palestinian Authority at Australian universities.
The scholarships include: return airfares to Australia; an establishment allowance; full tuition fees; living expenses, and health cover. Remember, 70% of Palestinians support Hamas terrorists. These employees of the PA work for a dictatorship that last faced an election in 2005; the same leader has been at the trough for 19 years, and the organisation pays terrorists to kill Jews and anyone else who objects to Islamic terrorism. This bizarre action by the Albanese government has rightly been described as the most ridiculous, dangerous and reckless policy in terms of our interests and security. We already have a dangerous anti-Semitism and pro-Hamas atmosphere in the universities that these undesirables will be attending. What an excellent opportunity to place serious terrorists in Australia. The Albanese government is either very stupid, or it is evil. Posted by ttbn, Wednesday, 24 July 2024 8:43:21 PM

Im pretty sure Ive posted this before but it remains relevant.
So what actually is multiculturalism? What is culture? I see "culture" as what people do. Everything we do is culture. Going to the beach. Thats culture. Going to the theatre or the movies. Going to Mcdonalds. Watching Neighbors or Home and away. All "culture". Getting Chinese takeaway or a pizza, having porridge for breakfast, a meat pie and sauce for lunch or a stir fry for dinner. It all counts as culture. Everything we do is cultural and since we all do so much then we could also quite sensibly be called "multicultural". Every day we each live a multicultural life. We watch tv. Thats culture. We read. Thats culture. We eat, work, play, live. All culture. Multiculturalism is already here and so well entrenched in all of us that any call to stop or reverse it is ludicrous. Culture always changes, grows and progresses. The culture the right wants to see is the homogenous, stifling, boring culture of the 1950s. Where anyone who wasnt a white male was a second class citizen. Where men ruled over their wives, families and society in general with incompetence and authoritarianism. A crap, insular and ridiculous society perpetually 30 years behind the rest of the world. A society rejected by the baby boomers and transformed by the immigration and multicultural policies of a succession of Australian governments. Governments head and shoulders above the past few. It all counts as culture.
mikk, In that case, lying, inventing a past no-one can prove, parasitic hangers-on, fruitcakes such as the Woke etc etc are all culture ? When I look at the difference between say people from PNG or the deep Amazon jungles & those from Africa or from a Caucasian blood line who now identify as indigenous in Australia I see massive discrepancies as to the definition of culture ! Culture evolved when some early humans managed to achieve a level of daily existence which afforded some spare time for activities not purely about existence but for indulgence of leisure and/or superstitious beliefs. Wokeism is not culture, it's parasitism. Posted by Indyvidual, Thursday, 25 July 2024 6:01:37 AM

With the Albanese government and Labor state governments trying to sneak in a disguised version of the defeated Voice, we need a government that will not only drop official multiculturalism, but also get rid of other divisive policies such as symbolic acknowledgements of and welcomes to country and removing the aboriginal flag from government departments and functions.
Aboriginal quangos need to go too. Most of all, there should be no immigrants from countries that obviously don't share our values. A total ban. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 25 July 2024 8:41:26 AM

Israeli historian Professoe Ilan Pappe said:
" History lies at the core of every conflict. A true and unbiased understanding of the past offers the possibility of peace. The distortion or manipulation of history, in contrast, will only sow disaster." Here are a few historical facts: General Sir John Monash, of Jewish Polish ancestry - was the Military Commander of the First World War who commanded the 13th Infantry Brigade before the war and shortly after its outbreak became Commander of the 4th Brigade in Egypt with whom he took part in the Gallipoli Campaign. In July 1916 he took charge of the newly raised 3rd Division in Northwestern France and in May 1918 became Commander of the Australian Corps which at the time was the largest Corps on the Western Front. Additional history: More than 200 Australians of Chinese heritage enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force during World War I. Most of these servicemen were born in Australia, descendents of Chinese people who had migrated to Australia during the 1850s Gold Rush. Many who served were awarded medals for bravery. Caleb James Shang was the most highly decorated Chinese Australian who served in WWI. Then of course there were so many other ancestries who also contributed so much, including our First Nations people. Thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have served in the Australian Defence Forces since 1860s and possibly earlier. More than 1000 served in World War I and over 4,000 in WWII. The Department of Home Affairs has issued a "Multicultural
Framework Review." It explains why Australia has succeeded where other countries have not. "Australia's multiculturalism is no mere policy document. It thrives in our communities. In our work places, our institutions, our sports grounds, our streets and our homes. In our churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples. It's who we are." "I often reflect on the fact that when the post-war immigration program began just after World War II, Australia was a country of seven million people, 90 percent of whom of British and Irish descent. It was institutionally racist through its formal embrace of the White Australia policy." "Today we welcome people from all over the world, and invite them to become citizens and enrich our society and nation as 7.5 million migrants in the past 75 years have done before them." "No other country has achieved such a transformation so peacefully and in the space of an average life span. This is "the genius of Australian multiculturalism." This Review is an example of why Australia's success has been achieved and will continue to be achieved in the future. We're told that success did not happen over night, or through good luck. Thankfully Australian governments have not been complacent. The success has happened through the fruits of deep thought and hard work, over many, many, years. And we're told that the work will continue to ensure success. Community consultation and inclusion is vital. Mikk said- "1. Culture always changes, grows and progresses. 2. The culture the right wants to see is the homogenous, stifling, boring culture of the 1950s. 3. Where anyone who wasnt a white male was a second class citizen. Where men ruled over their wives, families and society in general with incompetence and authoritarianism. 4. A crap, insular and ridiculous society perpetually 30 years behind the rest of the world. 5. A society rejected by the baby boomers and transformed by the immigration and multicultural policies of a succession of Australian governments." Answer 1- This culture wasn't changed by the people but by dictatorial special interests against democratic principles. One of these special interests was Hebrew Edward Bernays Father of Consumer Culture who sought according to his daughter and Adam Curtis to enslave American's through their emotional desires. The rise of mass television media in the 60's had the pernicious effect of enslaving the peoples minds to superficial ends. Answer 2- All cultures are stifling and boring in a sense. Aristotle talked about freedom by virtue. Mill talked about doing what you want. I believe that society will be better served if the members of society work together for common goals. I want my society to be modelled for the members, Mikk wants something different. Answer 3- If others don't like the views of white males then they can choose not to have relationships with white males. White males similarly can choose not to have relationships with white females. But males and females think differently because of evolution- and have different roles in society- maybe some white females are so arrogant that they know better than evolution. Feminism was apparently originated by Marxist’s in the Women’s Day Marches. Some white females say that they are unable to find their idea of a good man- I wonder why. Men and women need each other for the continuation of the culture. Some seek to create conflict between men and women for their own chaotic nihilistic evil ends. Answer 4- The Dunbar number says that our social circle is between 100 and 200- so an insular society is inevitable even in a society of millions. If anything a society of millions often means more isolation than less. I don't want to be in a society that idiotically follows the world, rather than leading it.
Answer 5- Multiculturalism is racism. No one asked the people. Bob Hawke's Memoire's apparently talks about the media conspiracy and complicity of silence on immigration- a silence that heroically broken after 40 years by Peter Dutton. The 'Extreme Trotskyist' side of politics doesn't believe in popular politics because they don't trust the people and believe they need to be controlled- despite their claims. Joseph Stalin — 'Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas?'. Immigration weakens white British culture in Australia. Immigration is only promoted in Western nations. Most immigration is from dominant cultures not minorities such as China, India, Africa. European nations have created systems and processes to create the quality of live that we enjoy- Marxism is the culture of envy that wants to destroy this- and make everyone as poor and miserable as themselves. From my perspective Mikk is an Anglophobic Anti-White Racist. Posted by Canem Malum, Thursday, 25 July 2024 12:51:56 PM

Dear ttbn, . You wrote : « … we need a government that will not only drop official multiculturalism, but also get rid of other divisive policies … and removing the aboriginal flag …» . You might “need” that, ttbn, but the large majority of Australians don’t. In fact, I think it would be true to say that most would consider it to be un-Australian. In a survey last year 78% said immigration made Australia stronger, though most would prefer less of it. Two polls in December found that around 60% think the current intake is too high. Nobody suggested it should be stopped completely. Your remarks are reminiscent of the Immigration Restriction Bill of 1901, (generally referred to as “The White Australia Policy”) that was finally abolished by The Racial Discrimination Act 1975. The Immigration Restriction Bill was motivated by economic factors (cheap foreign labour) but as it applied to Chinese and various other Asian immigrants, it translated essentially into racial hostility. Your rejection is based on what is known today as ‘identity politics” of which far-right nationalists are ardent proponents, focusing on the exclusion of unwanted migrants from around the world as well as national indigenous peoples. What you are promoting, ttbn, are ethnic, religious and racial identity politics based on the idea that the silent majority “needs” to be protected from globalisation, multiculturalism, and immigration. Identity politics is a form of tribalism that rejects all those who are not members of the tribe. It discriminates against anybody different. It’s anti-social, makes people suspicious and wary and isolates the tribe members. Those are not Australian values, ttbn. People who follow their tribal instincts have an existential problem, a form of anthrophobia that creates problems in their relationships and interactions with others. It can be quite debilitating. . Dear Banjo,
Thank you for your eloquent post. You put things so well and in such a civil manner. To attack you and your comments would be simply churlish. Quite frankly - I'm so glad to be living in Australia. I've travelled widely. Lived and worked overseas and to me Australia is the best country in the world. It's a country where most of us do finally and formally recognise that we're all different but that theyre's nothing threatening in the difference. Today we're exposed to a wide range of restaurants, diverse forms of entertainment, beneficial changes in food habits, less conformity in our dress and behaviour. Our education, health, and institutional systems have improved. Much still needs to improve - but we're working on it. We now have the capability to learn about other cultures. About each others needs, likes and dislikes. There's more of an openess to new ideas and changes. We no longer accept that only our way of doing things is necessarily the best way simply because that's the way in which we are accustomed. We're all seeking a better life for ourselves and future generations and we're discovering there is no place for a "us" and "them" mentality in our society today or in the future. Things have changed - and will continue to do so. Most of us agree that it's been for the better and we shall strive for it to continue. The education of our children is key. "The Department of Home Affairs has issued a "Multicultural
Framework Review." It explains why Australia has succeeded where other countries have not." So the government department in charge of administering the government's policies on multiculturalism informs us that the policies that that department are implementing are a massive success. Well when a government body tells us that they are doing a marvellous job I'm always totally convinced </sarc> Seriously, some people will fall for anything so long as it confirms their prejudices. The fact is that multiculturalism has failed in every country it has been tried. the only reason the problems in Australia aren't as severe as those in places such as France, Sweden, England and Michigan, is that we have fewer of the problematic nationalities in this country. That in turn is due to the far-sighted policies implemented by people like Howard (we will decide who comes to this country and the circumstances under which they come) and Abbott (stop the boats). But for the efforts of these people we would have been inundated with such massive nationalistic problems that we would envy Paris' and London's relatively lesser problems. Multiculturalism stands a small chance of working when there is a dominant culture that is supported by the nation, when the members of the other cultures are relatively small in number, when those other cultures bare some resemblance to the dominant culture and, most importantly, when the members of cultures actively antagonistic toward the dominant culture are small in number. Ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity has been
a feature of this country's society since the beginning of British colonisation in the 18th century. Post settlement migration included Malays, Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos, and Afghans, as well as Irish, English, Scots and Germans to name just a few. Prior to this the Malacans and Melanesians had traded and periodically co-located over centuries with Indigenous Australians in the far north. The end of WWII triggered large scale migration across the globe. While the foundations of the White Australia policy were laid down in 1901 - principally to prohibit the importation of Pacific Island sugar workers, Australia's need for labour and an increased population led to the mass settlement of displaced victims of Europe's World War. Since 1945 approximately 7 million people from over 180 countries have migrated to Australia. That is around one million migrants each decade since 1950. Australia's economy increased six-fold over that time. Over the last decade migrants from India, China, the Middle East and Africa have contributed to Australia's cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity. Today over 260 languages are spoken in Australia by people of 270 different ancestries. The language diversity gives Australia a competitive edge in an increasing transnational world. A commitment to multiculturalism to manage the diversity within the framework of Australian values and laws, has had the broad support of Australian governments for over 30 years. Within the framework of our legal and political system, cultural and linguistic diversity remains an ever-present feature of our cultural and national life. Here's a brief summation taken from
our national broadcaster on the history of multiculturalism: We're told that: Our history is filled with attempts to shape and re-shape policies and attitudes towards cultural diversity and immigration, being both welcoming and unwelcoming to those beyond our shores. The White Australia policy formally the Immigration Restriction Act was introduced in 1901. It gave British migrants preferance over others and at the time had wide community support. This policy after World War II was gradually dismantled. Today 30% of Australians were born overseas and since the arrival of the first Europeans the country has taken in an estimated 10 million migrants. Historical records tell us we didn't get here by accident. It's interesting to note that at the same time as thousands of refugees arrived the government was searching for ways to address the severe worker shortage and "populate and perish," became the catch-cry of a massive recruitment campaign which saw about 2 million immigrants arrive 1945 - 1965. We're told that the 1970s were focused on policies and programs to help new arrivals integrate into society. The Multicultural Framework Review Statement given earlier was made in Parliament by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in 2017 to ensure that migrants did not suffer social inequality. It was under Malcolm Fraser that more than 50,000 Vietnamese were settled in Australia. This ongoing trend towards integration continued - with a series of institutions being created to cater for the country's increasingly diverse community. Including the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). To mention just one. Of course we also had the nay-sayers. When John Howard became PM in 1996 he removed multicultural funding from the budget. Then we had Pauline Hanson come on the political scene spreading fear. The work of a society is never done. How to integrate people and how we can reconcile the past, present, and future are ongoing issues and still very important today. How we deal with them is up to us. "We're all migrants of either today, yesterday, or the day before. Australia is a migrant country. It will always be so." Posted by Foxy, Saturday, 27 July 2024 10:47:33 AM

In Adelaide today, a Muslim father and mother were sentenced to 14 years jail and 5 years jail respectively for stabbing their daughter for associating with a Christian man.
The politicians who allowed that sort of filth into Australia, and encouraged them to retain their culture, should also be in jail. Posted by ttbn, Monday, 29 July 2024 6:54:11 PM

ttbn, refers to one isolated case, then buckets on all from that particular ethnic/religious group. A typical bigot who will point to a specific instance of wrong doing, then extrapolate that wrong doing to cover all within. Should we take the Christians who murdered two police officers, and a innocent man in Queensland and hold them up as what Christians typically do, of course not, but ttbn attempts to do exactly that. The federal immigration minister, Al Grassby, laid out a road map for multiculturism in Australia just over half a century ago, in 1973. Here is his speech : http://www.multiculturalaustralia.edu.au/doc/grassby_1.pdf . The federal government has just now published, half a century later, the final report of a public enquiry : “Multicultural Framework Review”. The objective and procedure of the enquiry are described as follows : « The Review examines the state of Australia’s multicultural society and recommends changes to laws, policies and institutional settings that build on the strengths of multiculturalism and enable it to respond to contemporary challenges. The Government and the Panel wanted the widest possible range of Australian voices to contribute to the Review. That meant finding innovative and inviting ways to communicate with the public. The Government received 90 submissions that helped to shape the Terms of Reference for the Review. It published information about the Review and an invitation to make submissions in texts in 33 languages and in audio format in 35 languages. The Panel also invited young people aged 4 to 24 to express in pictures their experiences and views of our multicultural society. The 103 artworks they contributed can be viewed at the Online Art Exhibition. As a result of these efforts, the Panel received 796 submissions, 126 of them in languages other than English, which were then translated to inform its thinking. » . The title of the final report is “Towards fairness: A multicultural Australia for all”. Here it is : http://apo.org.au/sites/default/files/resource-files/2024-07/apo-nid327694.pdf . Law on Forced Marriages . Australia's forced marriage offences carry a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment, or nine years' imprisonment for an aggravated offence. An offence may be aggravated in several circumstances, including where the victim is under the age of 18. If the victim is under the age of 18 and is taken overseas for the purpose of forced marriage, the maximum penalty increases to 25 years' imprisonment. That's ok I am not a fashionista. We must have a coffee one day when I am in Melbourne. You are right when you say it is a small minority, except in Lakemba. They were all very much on side on the 8th October. I think you missed the crux of the matter. The real terrorists have the unspoken support of the majority. The majority does not want to stick their neck out but they are locked in since childhood. The next election will raise a few signals. Very few step up and inform on the dangerous ones, but it does happen. Consider their situation, they are surrounded by family, neighbours, mosque all believers. To act in opposition could see them killed, or beaten up or ostracised at best and have to leave and make a new life elsewhere. There is an undercover anti Islam Arab organisation but it seldom puts its head above the parapet. probably under a new name. It is a glaring example of the failure of multiculturalism. Hi Bezza,
We've covered this subject so many times. I don't see Muslims as being incompatible with us and I certainly don't see Islam as a monolithic culture - or pigeon-holing them in stereotypical Western assumptions as to what a Muslim looks like, what they think, or how they are going to behave. Muslims are not a uniform group of people. They come from different cultures, are linguistically diverse and are born and raised all over the world. Whether they live in Sydney or Melbourne or elsewhere - individual differences exist. The same applies to us all. Have you actually visited a Muslim community in Lakemba? Multiculturism and Human Rights . Modern democracies in the free world continue to attract people from around the world seeking opportunity and a better life for themselves and their families, whether they be rich or poor. They bring their history, their ethnicity, their religion and their culture with them. Those who are accepted into the host nation automatically receive the benefits of democracy and are subject to its laws and obligations. Among its benefits is the respect of their Individual Human Rights which some mistakenly consider also extends to include “collective rights” of those with whom they identify historically, ethnically, religiously and culturally. Individual Human Rights are not Collective Rights. The Human Rights of individuals accepted into the nation are recognised and protected by the State, but not any imagined “collective rights” of communities. In my view, that should be a condition "sine qua non" to the acceptance of anybody wishing to take up permanent residence in any democratic nation. Basic knowledge of the host nation's law also seems to be a necessary prerequisite for acceptance, especially where it is notably different from the candidate's country of origin. . Immigration and multicultural policies are the lifeblood
of a diverse society but if they are poorly designed they can be bad for both the immigrants and existing populations alike. France is a good example. You're either French or you're not. Full stop. There has to be sufficient resources and investments in infrastructure - so that conflict doesn't leave anyone out in the cold. Creating a flourishing society is no small feat. Australia has programs like the Australian Cultural Orientation Program AUSCO, an investment in helping migrants build new lives. The work continues - There's - More work to be done - in finding ways to encourage people to see themselves as part of a team having a shared vision and recognizing that our futures are tied together. I had this amazing dentist a few years back.
She was from Taiwan ethnicity, but she might've been born here, I'm not sure. I'd just started getting all my teeth sorted out. She could give needles and you wouldn't even feel it. I asked her how did you get so good at giving injections; And she told me that they have to practice on each other at dentist school. I'd seen her twice previously and this one morning, she says she was on TV on 'The View' or 'Ten First' or something. She tells me she'd just had her tonsils out, and had developed an Irish accent, I think she said she'd been singing in the shower when she first noticed. She seemed a quietly confused, lost, dismayed about the situation, and not her usual self. She offered me her instagram, but I didn't use it, did not get her details. Then the next time I went in she was gone. They sent me into the other dentist there. But that guy should've been a motor mechanic, not a dentist. Really rough, like a mechanic putting his tools down on the side of the engine bay, not working in someones mouth. Aussie who woke up with an Irish accent after tonsil surgery tells of daily struggle: ‘It’s bizarre’ http://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/aussie-who-woke-up-with-an-irish-accent-after-tonsil-surgery-tells-of-daily-struggle-its-bizarre-c-6845884 I tried a few times searching on the internet to find her, but couldn't track her down. Green Councillor, Rafaela Pandolfini, (Randwick Council) is already ranting against spending money next Christmas - in the name of multiculturalism.
Not surprisingly, Cr. Pandolfini rocked up at Anzac Day celebrations this year wearing a pro-Palestinian Arab scarf. She wants $300,000 of the council’s $500,000 Christmas budget to spend on a ‘multicultural festival’. Not everyone celebrates or recognises Christmas, she says. Why should Christians wind back Christmas when Hindus, Muslims, Jews are not required to wind back their celebrations. Further, lots of non-Christians celebrate Christmas because it's fun and part of Australia. Not to mention the money that pours into local businesses. Even now, 43.9% of Australians claim to be Christians, whereas only 3.2% claim to be Muslims, 2.7% Hindus, 2.4% Buddhists, 0.8% Sikhs and 0.7% Jews. And, how many atheists deny their kids and themselves a fling at Christmas time Posted by ttbn, Wednesday, 31 July 2024 10:53:27 PM

I'm going to support you 100% on this one ttbn.
Hands off Christmas you cow. Even if one is not religious, it's about the kids having a good time. And if your not a celebrator of Christmas, then you stay home anyway and don't need a multicultural festival. She's a green alright, the Grinch. Stop trying to subvert our nation. We don't want your stupid woke ideas. - But I'm not sure if I should be upset over the keffiyeh. It isn't Australian, but Palestinians fought alongside Anzacs in Gaza. If she starts whinging about Palestine on Anzac day she can shut-up though. She can be offended and voice her discontent with that situation any other day of the year, just not Anzac day. « I'm looking forward to seeing multiculturalism at work in Paris. The opening ceremony sneered at, insulted, Christianity. Let's see these brave culture warriors do the same for Islam in the closing ceremony. » . The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics drew significant backlash from Catholic bishops for what they thought was the representation of Leonardo da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" with a "drag queen" performance, which they considered to be disrespectful to religious beliefs. However, the opening ceremony choreographer Thomas Jolly denied parodying the Last Supper. He explained that the scene was intended to promote tolerance of different sexual and gender identities. It featured French actor Philippe Katerine who appeared almost naked and painted blue as Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and pleasure. Dionysus was the bastard son of Zeus, the King of the Greek Gods, who was said to have taken up residence in Olympia around 1200 BC. As several scholars of ancient Greek history have long pointed out, the authors of the New Testament appear to have based much of their narrative of the life and death of Jesus on the life and death of the mythical Greek God, Dionysus. It is not surprising that the Catholic bishops and many other devotees of various Christian denominations projected their religious beliefs onto what they were persuaded was a familiar scene. The historical reference to Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure of Greek mythology, and the popular celebration of the Olympic Games, bringing people together worldwide, obviously missed its mark. Too intellectual, I’m afraid. Just another example of people seeing what they believe – but which, in fact, they simply ignore. Not everybody is conversant with Greek mythology. That’s life, I guess. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Thursday, 1 August 2024 3:42:11 AM

We agree on Christmas. But I am not aware of Palestinians doing any fighting with Anzacs. "Passive" is the only description of the people living in Palestine during WW1. On the Arab scarf, I noticed during Netanyahu's address to Congress there was one lonely woman wearing one, as well as a sulky look, sitting all on her own - carefully avoided, even though the room was packed. Armchair Critic,
My accent comes from my ability to speak several languages apart from English. Also I was influenced by the Head of our High School's English Department who taught English Lit. to our class and she insisted we end our words correctly - (no short cuts). All of us girls had to "speak properly." Another comment that was often made about me was "Doesn't she speak beautifully." So I guess I shouldn't complain. Talking about migrants? I've managed to fit in no matter where I am. I must be one of those exotic - "cosmopolitan" types. (smile). Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 1 August 2024 9:58:30 AM

And, how many atheists deny their kids and themselves a fling at Christmas time ? » . Many of the Christmas traditions we celebrate today are descended from pagan traditions. This includes the practice of exchanging gifts, decorating houses and trees, singing carols, decorating with holly and mistletoe, and even the kind of food that is usually prepared. For instance, the Yule Log – a cake commonly eaten at Christmas – is more symbolic than anything now, meant to invoke the bonfires of ages past. Exchanging gifts on the 25th December was part of an ancient festival that was celebrated long before Jesus was born. The exchange of gifts by pagans preceded Christmas and had nothing to do with Christmas or Christianity. It was just a shrewd means of diverting a very popular pagan festival in favour of the new religion. The early Christians cannibalised the festival of the 25th December to celebrate the birth of Jesus who wasn’t even born on that date. An important pagan holiday during the winter solstice was the birthday of the Greek god Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure. He was believed to have been born on the 25th December. His birthday was celebrated with wild revelry, feasts, drunkenness, and merrymaking that lasted several days. The festival was called Bacchanalia. What worked well for the early Christians in cannibalising the popular pagan winter festivals to celebrate Jesus’s birth, was also employed to celebrate the “resurrection” of Jesus in the spring. Celebrating rebirth in the spring was an ancient tradition that can be traced back long before Christianity, to the very beginning of civilisation. Nature comes back to life in the spring. "Easter" took its name from the pagan springtime goddess Eostre. Some cultures refer to it by variations of its Latin name "Pascha," . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:15:18 AM

Hi Banjo Patterson,
"However, the opening ceremony choreographer Thomas Jolly denied parodying the Last Supper. He explained that the scene was intended to promote tolerance of different sexual and gender identities." - Yeah I'm not sure about that. It seemed to be fairly clear to me they were mocking the last supper. In fact I'd almost go further and say that it seemed like they were saying 'LGBT is your new religion'. I mean I don't care what goes on in peoples bedrooms or who one chooses to love and partner up with, but I'm not going to celebrate the LGBT world. I don't know why these people go out of their way to cause conflict. I get the feeling of whiny disgruntled gay people trying to spit in the face of the world. 'Take that you cis christian straighties!' [Rolls eyes] What on earth does promoting tolerance of different sexual and gender identities have to do with sport anyway? - That idea has caused enough controversy in sport already. These clowns can't put on an event without cramming their woke religion down everyone's throats. It's nauseating. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:33:22 AM

Armchair Critic,
There are all sorts of athletes world-wide. Why can't they all be allowed to be represented if they excel in sport? Are the Games supposed to be selective? We now have women, and para-olympians, why not be inclusive? The only criteria should be one's ability to compete? Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:46:48 AM

Hi ttbn,
"But I am not aware of Palestinians doing any fighting with Anzacs." - I honestly don't really know much about it either. What I'm lead to believe is that Laurence of Arabia promised the Palestinians the right to self determination if they rose up against the Ottomans, though I've never really dug into the topic seriously. The Anzac-Palestine Connection http://www.palestinechronicle.com/the-anzac-palestine-connection/ "Some of the heaviest fighting took place in Gaza during the Palestine Campaign when ANZACS and Palestinian soldiers fought the Turks to free Palestine from Ottoman rule." - This was long before Israel became a modern state, the moment the Ottomans were conquered Jewish migrants started arriving in numbers. I heard something yesterday that there were plans to reconstitute the Israeli State going back as far as 1865, but I was starting to nod off and didn't pay full attention to it. http://www.youtube.com/live/KKI5L_lmIF0 The video itself is mostly about analysing the attempted Trump assassination, and there's some interesting info there. Hi Foxy,
"Why can't they all be allowed to be represented if they excel in sport?" - I'm sure Russians are asking themselves the same question, right? I don't see why ones sexual identity or preferences have to come into it at all. - It's sport, not the Mardi Gras. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:53:04 AM

Dear Banjo,
Talking about Christianity: Lithuania was the last state to Christianize. It happened in the end of the 14th century. The continuous attack from the side of Teutonic Order and their "Crusades against non-believers" signalled for Lithuanian leaders to implement Christianization. Many still follow pagan customs even today. My Gran used to sprinkle holy water around the house during severe storms when it thundered to appease the God of thunder- Perkunas. She took no chances. Armchair Critic,
Russia is mostly absent from the Paris Olympics. It is fielding just 15 athletes which is a result of ongoing penalties for past doping violations as well as Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 1 August 2024 11:03:17 AM

Armchair Critic,
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants to highlight how the Olympic Games is a powerful platform to foster inclusion, diversity, and non-discrimination. How it is a place where Olympic platforms can inspire the world through powerful messages - such as doping being wrong and also the invasion of sovereign countries such as Ukraine and waging a war is unacceptable. Palestine is fielding 7.
Apparently 345 Palestinian athletes were killed since Oct 7. "How it is a place where Olympic platforms can inspire the world through powerful messages - such as doping being wrong and also the invasion of sovereign countries such as Ukraine and waging a war is unacceptable." Why does everything these days have to be a 'powerful message'? - They should seriously stop the endless nannying and social engineering. It's like they're such control freaks they need to micromanage everyone's brain for them. I'm not going to worship do-gooders and bureaucrats. I can think for myself, for better or worse. As for Russia we shall disagree there. - It wasn't the invasion that was the problem. The problem itself is 'what caused the invasion', not the invasion itself - and that was the US. It was the fact that the US caused the situation with it's infinite meddling in other nations internal affairs, in its quest for maintaining capitalist exploitation and global hegemony. Another example of “successful” multiculturalism.
A Jewish man went into a Melbourne branch of Officeworks to have a Jewish newspaper laminated. A Palestinian shop assistant refused to do it. The man has taken Officeworks to the appropriate authority. At the very least, Officeworks should sack the shop assistant. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 1 August 2024 7:17:06 PM

I'm not sure she was Palestinian, she sounded Aussie to me.
http://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3803828569944581 I don't blame the girl for saying no, I might've too. I don't think I'd be happy about laminating something which has the Australian and Jewish flag side by side in solidarity when Israel is committing genocide. He wants things to laminate and put on his wall while the nation he supports is involved in genocide - against the decisions of the worlds highest court? Go ahead fire her. http://www.australianjewishnews.com/jew-refused-service-by-pro-palestine-staff-member/ >>“At Officeworks, we do not discriminate against our customers on the basis of political views, religious beliefs, gender, sexuality or race.” Hunter said Officeworks has provided ongoing training and education to team members so that they understand the importance of treating all customers with respect and dignity. “Arising out of this incident relevant team members received education through the Melbourne Holocaust Museum,” she said.<< OMG they are so pathetic. 'You must make them do Holocaust education' - 'Piss off, don't care about what happened 80 years ago before I was born and what isn't my fault, but I do care about what YOU are doing TODAY. Silly girl should've said no, not interested in your attempt to manipulate sympathy for stuff that happened 80 years ago. What happened to you people 80 years ago, you've been doing ever since. If they fired her, she could've taken officeworks to the cleaners. 'You think 80 years of killing Palestinians can be excused because of what Hitler did?' - Feck off don't insult my intelligence. (not directed at you ttbn) I may even consider boycotting officeworks myself now, for demanding their staff take Holocaust education. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 1 August 2024 10:12:56 PM

You have clearly never been in business. With your take on the appalling attitude of that employee, you would go broke. I have been in business, and I assure you that I would have sacked her on the spot. Not because she was pro-Palestinian, but because she brought her politics into my business and refused to do what I paid her to do: service customers. I would also have furnished the customer with what he wanted, for no charge, and a big apology, in order to keep his custom in the future. What a self-entitled, arrogant little biddy she was, bringing into disrepute the very organisation that provided her with a job. In business, you provide what the customer wants, and keep your politics to yourself - or get a job where you don't have to deal with people. If a customer wanted a picture of Osama bin Laden laminated, he too would be treated like any other customer. Politics and business do not mix. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 1 August 2024 11:20:36 PM

Dear Armchair Critic, . You wrote : 1. « It seemed to be fairly clear to me they were mocking the last supper. » Yes, Armchair Critic, lots of people think that. As Donald the Dictator taught us : “The facts don’t count. It’s what people think are the facts that counts”. People see what they believe and do not see what they do not believe or ignore. For what it’s worth, here is an article that describes the situation : http://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/29/olympic-last-supper-scene-based-painting-greek-gods-art-experts Also, in case you are interested, as Dionysus was painted blue at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, perhaps I should explain that the colour “blue” has a political significance in France. At the time of the French Revolution, blue was the colour of the Republicans, and was opposed to the white of the Monarchists, the black of the Clerical party, and the red of the Revolutionaries. After the First World War, it became conservative and was adopted by the gendarmerie and the police. Nevertheless, it is consensual by essence and is unanimously considered a symbol of consensus and peace. It became the official colour of international organizations such as UNESCO, the UN (the Blue Helmets), and the European Union. . 2. « What on earth does promoting tolerance of different sexual and gender identities have to do with sport anyway? » Yes, that question is a little more subtle and a bit more difficult to grasp. I don’t think “promoting tolerance of different sexual and gender identities” has anything to do with sport. But I think that sport, and the Olympic Games in particular, can and does foster a healthy attitude of sympathy and admiration for people striving to attain excellence in whatever endeavour they undertake, irrespective of their colour, gender, nationality, normality, or otherwise. As Deng Xiaoping famously said, "It doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice." That’s probably the most anti-racist and anti-sexist statement I’ve ever heard. . What really offends me ttbn is the self entitlement.
The fake outrage, or maybe it's not fake. 'Sack her, send her to Holocaust education'. 'How dare anyone refuse a Jew service?' I just want it laminated that Australians and Jews holding up flags together in solidarity. Sorry dude - there's no solidarity on this issue. I'm not laminating a Jewish and Australian flag in solidarity in the middle of a genocide. Not happening. Buy your own laminator and do it yourself. Your nation is a terrorist state and the way it's been acting of late. Israeli's trying to defend shoving broomsticks and vegetables up one of the 20,000 Palestinian hostages in Israeli torture facilities up the ar$e. They are truthfully acting like NAZI SS. And the Israei government policy might be about equal to gas chambers. I'm about one step away from publicly stating that Israel has no right to exist and deserves nothing less than to be wiped off the face of the earth. I shouldn't speak so harshly, because honestly I think it may actually happen soon. They've been protected by America for so long they literally think they are beyond being accountable for anything. They've broken 65 UN resolutions without consequences. Well some people don't like alignment with Israel during a busy period in an 80 year genocide. In case you don't know Bibis plan has always been to TAKE IT ALL and then some, Greater Israel plan. I'm not sure what God they serve, but he's probably got horns. And as for Officeworks - they've lost my business. Boycott. I'll just buy from Mega Office Supplies instead. http://megaofficesupplies.com.au/ That's what you get for sending your staff to Holocaust education in the middle of an ICJ confirmed ongoing genocide, and assassinating hundreds of journalists and tens of thousands of women and kids. Told you all before I don't care for rapists. http://x.com/DrLoupis/status/1818574456102457635 http://x.com/Dayanneaci/status/1818589188792492287 Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 2 August 2024 2:19:00 AM

Hi AC,
"And as for Officeworks - they've lost my business. Boycott." Unfortunately there is little in the way of an alternative, like Bunnings with hardware they're pretty much got the office supply business to themselves. I'm not too sure what went on there, was it some joker at OW told some Jew OW, supported the Palestinians so PO out of the shop. Jesus ....Had some right wing nutter, nutting off about the Jews started WWI and WWII and they'll start WWIII soon, Armageddon is on its way. Its in the Bible according to nut job Nick! I will stick with Officeworks for their good business sense and refusal to tolerate politics and anti-Semitism in their business. I've never heard of Mega Office supplies, but I can pretty much guarantee that they would emulate Officeworks if a similar thing was done to them and their customers by one of their staff. Business is business. Small business is a lot different from Big Business, which is not generally involved in retail and face-to-face dealings with all sorts of people. I am inclined to do more business with Officeworks after this disgraceful performance by an employee who doesn't have to put up her own money to have a job and income. What she did is the equivalent of taking money out of the till. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 2 August 2024 9:44:07 AM

Hi ttbn,
I understand what you're saying, business is business. Especially more so when Blackrock holds a 2% stake in Wesfarmers which owns Officeworks. Holocaust education is required right? No thanks, I can see what's on the TV just fine. Mega Office Supplies are pretty good if you're willing to wait a day or two for delivery. You get little free bags of lollies and discount vouchers in your parcel delivery. Hope nobody takes my opinion personally here, though I think Yuyutsu might. He really needs to send his family off to a beach holiday in Cypress for a few months I think. The war is about to escalate in a very big way I think. One of their earliest discriminatory actions Nazis took against Jews in Germany before the war was refusing service to Jews in shops.

In Australia it is unlawful to discriminate on the
basis of protected attributes which include age, disability, race, sex, religion, intersex status, gender identity, sexual orientation and so on. Australia's federal anti-discrimination laws are contained in legislation. Unlawful discrimination or alleged breaches of human rights complaints can be lodged with the Australian Human Rights Commission and relevant state and territory agencies. The Australian Human Rights Commission has the statutory power to investigate and conciliate complaints of unlawful discrimination under Australian anti-discrimination legislation. Complaints can be lodged through the Australian Human Rights website. Or of course a lawyer. The Officeworks staff member is being re-trained which includes a visit to the Holocaust Museum. The gentlemen in question has been given $100 and a full apology from Officeworks. He is consulting legal advice. Action has been taken by both sides. Mark Dreyfus the government's attorney-general is Jewish. Both he and the government are looking into passing additional legislation which they the Opposition to also approve. Hi Foxy,
"The Officeworks staff member is being re-trained which includes a visit to the Holocaust Museum. The gentlemen in question has been given $100 and a full apology from Officeworks. Hi ttbn,
"One of their earliest discriminatory actions Nazis took against Jews in Germany before the war was refusing service to Jews in shops." Let me be clear. This is not about refusing Jews general service in shops. You'll notice I stated 'Buy a laminator and do it yourself' For me this is about refusing to 'laminate a newspaper that shows Australia is in solidarity with Israel' during a genocide. I'm not entirely sure what was on the front cover that the girl objected to, it was hard to make out. - Look at the video - As for NAZI's refusing service to Jews in WWII: Well to understand this mess, you have to go back to WWI, - Or even earlier in 1913 when Jewish bankers established the US Federal Reserve. If you need a better understanding about these events and what lead up to it watch this: All Wars Are Bankers Wars by Michael Rivero http://youtu.be/BrKf9nYeXT0 Now move forward to WWI. Britain declared war on Germany in 1914, and after some time they were on the verge of defeat. The Jews offered England a deal. You need not lose the war, we'll bring the Americans into it, and in return you give us Palestine. The Balfour Declaration is signed November 2nd, 1917, but the war doesn't end until the armistice on November 11, 1918. Germans were forced into much hardship and owed huge reparations after the war, and Germans were suffering badly. - There was huge resentment against Jews for this, and they were living quite well in hard times while the Germans were not doing so well. Enter Adolf Hitler. Newspaper Headline - March 24, 1933: 'Judea declares war on Germany' Jews of the World Unite. Boycott German goods. http://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-9e64e5349fdb9643b9c3c46988bf399a Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 2 August 2024 8:08:03 PM

Now I'm not exactly sure when the campaign in the M/E started, but it was obviously prior to US declaring war on Germany on April 4 1917. My Great Grandfather earned his Distinguished Service Order in the Second Battle for Gaza 2 weeks later on April 19, 1917. He was in Gallipoli and other places prior, and after the war he was a big name down at Randwick racecourse. http://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/awm-media/collection/RCDIG1068798/document/5517397.PDF http://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R1536471 Now maybe I shouldn't complain, because if England didn't win WWI, I may not have ever been born if my Great Grandfather hadn't lived through it. But needless to say, the Palestinians were promised the right to self determination, if they rose up against the Ottomans (It was probably always a lie) but a deal was made when England was losing the war. My Great Grandfather could've died in Gaza, but for what ends? So the Jews could move back in a kill the people my ANZAC Great Grandfather fought on the same side as and to liberate from the Ottomans in that war? The killing hasn't ended since my Great Grandfather was there in 1917, 108 years ago. Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 2 August 2024 8:13:31 PM

As I see it, the staffer had every right to have his personal political opinion, but no right under Australian anti-discrimination law to refuse service to the client. He should have explained that, unfortunately, he was unable to provide the service the client requested as he was a conscientious objector to the Israel-Hamas war, but would immediately contact his boss so that he could be served by somebody else. That way, he would have “killed two birds with one stone” as it were. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Friday, 2 August 2024 10:47:46 PM

After all that, people finished up believing what they believed at the beginning. It's all a waste of time really. We should probably all keep our thoughts to ourselves, and exercise what is left of democracy at the ballot box, and hope for the best. Even then, the duopoly, unity party, what ever commentators call our silly system, are going to do pretty much what they wish to do, without our permission.
The political class lie like pigs in sh.t; and there is nothing we can do about it, because only pigs want to be in politics. All Albanese says about the abomination that is multiculturalism is it is a “key part” of modern Australia; and we should “nurture our multiculturalism” - just because he says we should: no real reason given.
On the other hand, to give him credit, Peter Dutton recognises the very obvious downside of the policy, and points to the fact that there is, or should be, a social contract whereby “we do not allow the problems, the tensions, or the animosity of other parts of the world to manifest in our communities or on our streets”.
Unfortunately, the Albanese government has not implemented any such ‘contract’; has not even used the existing laws on hate speech.
Dutton has said there is clear evidence of “people in our country today who do not subscribe to our democratic values” and of individuals “who do not want to change for Australia but want, instead, for Australia to change for them.”
There is an election coming. And it is hoped that Mr. Dutton will put his oppositional beliefs into government as the only practical alternative to Mr. Albanese.
