I had this amazing dentist a few years back.
She was from Taiwan ethnicity, but she might've been born here, I'm not sure. I'd just started getting all my teeth sorted out. She could give needles and you wouldn't even feel it. I asked her how did you get so good at giving injections; And she told me that they have to practice on each other at dentist school. I'd seen her twice previously and this one morning, she says she was on TV on 'The View' or 'Ten First' or something. She tells me she'd just had her tonsils out, and had developed an Irish accent, I think she said she'd been singing in the shower when she first noticed. She seemed a quietly confused, lost, dismayed about the situation, and not her usual self. She offered me her instagram, but I didn't use it, did not get her details. Then the next time I went in she was gone. They sent me into the other dentist there. But that guy should've been a motor mechanic, not a dentist. Really rough, like a mechanic putting his tools down on the side of the engine bay, not working in someones mouth. Aussie who woke up with an Irish accent after tonsil surgery tells of daily struggle: ‘It’s bizarre’ http://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/aussie-who-woke-up-with-an-irish-accent-after-tonsil-surgery-tells-of-daily-struggle-its-bizarre-c-6845884 I tried a few times searching on the internet to find her, but couldn't track her down. Wherever you are Angie, hope you're going alright. You were by far 'the best dentist' I ever had. Damn tonsils. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 31 July 2024 1:59:39 PM

Hi AC,
I hope one day you'll find her. She sounds wonderful. My dentist is a young Greek woman and also very gentle and competent. Talking about accents though. People say I've got an accent. They keep asking me which part of South Africa am I from. Go figure. Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 31 July 2024 3:17:24 PM

"They keep asking me which part of South Africa am I from."
- That would be annoying. Is it part of the reason why you (may have) never fully felt included? - And always felt an identified as a migrant. You need a good 'Aussie' response. 'I was effin born here mate, don't make me take my thong off or I'll have to slap you around the face with it.' - And they'd be like... "Yeah ok fair enough, your Aussie - but your accent's a little off. Would you like to duck down the pub for a couple of frothies?" Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 31 July 2024 10:41:11 PM

Green Councillor, Rafaela Pandolfini, (Randwick Council) is already ranting against spending money next Christmas - in the name of multiculturalism.
Not surprisingly, Cr. Pandolfini rocked up at Anzac Day celebrations this year wearing a pro-Palestinian Arab scarf. She wants $300,000 of the council’s $500,000 Christmas budget to spend on a ‘multicultural festival’. Not everyone celebrates or recognises Christmas, she says. Why should Christians wind back Christmas when Hindus, Muslims, Jews are not required to wind back their celebrations. Further, lots of non-Christians celebrate Christmas because it's fun and part of Australia. Not to mention the money that pours into local businesses. Even now, 43.9% of Australians claim to be Christians, whereas only 3.2% claim to be Muslims, 2.7% Hindus, 2.4% Buddhists, 0.8% Sikhs and 0.7% Jews. And, how many atheists deny their kids and themselves a fling at Christmas time Posted by ttbn, Wednesday, 31 July 2024 10:53:27 PM

I'm going to support you 100% on this one ttbn.
Hands off Christmas you cow. Even if one is not religious, it's about the kids having a good time. And if your not a celebrator of Christmas, then you stay home anyway and don't need a multicultural festival. She's a green alright, the Grinch. Stop trying to subvert our nation. We don't want your stupid woke ideas. - But I'm not sure if I should be upset over the keffiyeh. It isn't Australian, but Palestinians fought alongside Anzacs in Gaza. If she starts whinging about Palestine on Anzac day she can shut-up though. She can be offended and voice her discontent with that situation any other day of the year, just not Anzac day. We've got a new doctor. Our previous one retired.
Our new doctor is he says - from "Persia."
He made that distinction. Persia not Iran.
A lovely young chap and very thorough. He treats
us like family.
We love him.
