This issue came up regularly in the debate on boat illegals. It is a long time since I looked at the issue of over stayers, however as I recall the vast majority only overstay a short period and continue spending their own money enjoying our hospitality. They are late by some days or weeks and leave to be replaced by others who overstay to enjoy our sights, so the figure is roughly static. Paul's crowd like to imply that the whole 64000 stay permanently and it is an annual figure. So much for his honesty! Paul is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill and no one is concerned.

It is more concerning the number that lie and cheat to obtain permanent resident visas and who rort the family reunion provisions

I don't see you calling out those that make such hateful remarks.

The 'plane arrival overstayers' is the standard 'shut up' comment from people comfortable with open borders. You comments are correct. And, people overstaying their visas are regularly hunted down and deported. Unlike illegal entrants posing as asylum seekers, they have no 'rights' at all, and are mostly sent home within a day or two of their discovery by immigration officers. Something like 100,000 per year, I believe, a few more than 64,000, which seems to be the standard figure used by the chaterati.

Notice Paul1405 was called out for being the racist person not the person he accused, instead of answer that he tries to deflect the discussion to something else.

If your understanding comes from what Paul1405 wrote above your comment then you only have his interpretation of events rather than the facts which you could have read for yourself if you took my suggestion and read the thread for yourself.

Further I posted the same type of tactic Paul1405 used against me.

On one occasion I wrote.

He blatantly finds racism in statements that have no racism in them.

I have never understood why she kowtows to him and that other nasty pasty, SteeleRedux. I have always thought that she was more intelligent, aware and reasonable than the Sneerers.
