First the basis of God being real, and God being fake are both challenged by Christians (or anyone of any faith) leaving their faith saying they never found God; as well as challenged by atheists who then become believers, saying they found God, or found His undeniable force. These two elements are the breakaways from both religious and atheistic views potential for indoctrination. Whether God is real or not is not a straight answer, that only the indoctrinated don't get. On that basis, if God is real, then the reason to believe in Him shines throughout history, not on the conditions of history that we have overcome.
Second point. Being more informed is not really accurate. On so many subjects, we have expanded our knowledge. But in the area of religion, there's a different dynamic. In order to have an unbiased view and teach from subjects that don't rely on God, many schools leave out God entirely. Even to the point of trying to remove any mention or discussion about God.
Consider it this way. In a place of learning one topic is entirely shunned, and is a blind spot in educational programs. On the scope of that topic how is that not indoctrination as much as going to church is blamed for indoctrinating Christians. What is obvious to some one who never knew God, saying that God doesn't exist is a sad reality to those who know God: that people are still blind and have no idea.
