For the third time recently the people are once more being asked to pass judgment on a State Government, this time in New South Wales. Recently we saw the quick demise of one term wonders in conservative governments in Victoria and Queensland. Will it be third time lucky, and will we see that repeated in NSW, we can only hope. 2011 seen the Labor Government of ‘Eddies Gal’ Kristina Keneally unceremoniously booted out of office with a 16% swing. The Labor Party led by the no name Luke Foley requires a 15% swing to regain office... Foley doesn’t even hold a seat in the lower house, is this Campbell Newman all over? Although Foley has been parachuted into a somewhat safer seat for Labor than the one contested by Newman.
There is a difference in NSW from the other two states. The elephant in the room for the big two is CORRUPTION within. The last four years has seen a conga line of politicians from both parties making their way to the witness box down at the ICAC. The outcomes have been shocking for both parties, with findings of corrupt activity by their members on a number of fronts, stand downs and resignations galore. Even the man who won office for The Coalition, Barry O’Farrell on an anti corruption platform, had to go following adversity before the commission. The man who replaced Keneally for Labor, Robertson, had to resign following a well documented stuff up with the Martin Place nutter.
Will the people vote for more of the same from the big two, or will they chart a new course and pin their faith more in minor parties and independents, I hope they do

Dear Paul1405,

I hope voting will not be putting faith in anybody. Defining faith as belief without evidence it is not a good way to operate. IMHO the best way to vote is for the least bad alternative, but remember that no matter who you vote for a politician will be elected.

Strange bedfellows! Shock Jock Alan Jones and Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham are being sued by former Deputy Premier and National Party hack Andrew Stoner. What is Stoner's beef, the pair criticised him in relation to coal seam gas and coal mining project approvals. Stoner is a money man, having launched his action after Jones and Buckingham did not accede to his demand that they pay him a six figure sum as compensation. At the center of it all is non other than coal magnet Nathan Tinkler. After Labor bad boys Roozendaal and Tripodi were unceremoniously kick out of office Tinkler suddenly seen the light and become a generous benefactor to the National Party. Jeremy Buckingham said on Jones radio show, "Lots of money flowed from Nathan Tinkler and his interests to the National Party after they got into governnment, Andrew Stoner (for one) did the bidding of Tinkler.
Can it be that Stoner's action is designed to try and intimidate The Greens and others from speaking out and criticising the Nationals before the up coming election? Stoner is not re-contesting his seat of Oxley.

The conservatives are battling corruption on all fronts! That is corruption of their own doing. Cocky Joe Hockey is spending a few days in court suing 'Fairfax Media' over their claim Joe was up to no good with their headline "Treasurer For Sale". Fairfax said if you paid over enough dosh you would have the ear of Treasurer Joe, no doubt with enough dosh you would hope that ear would be sympathetic to your way of thinking. Hockey claims a lack of knowledge of monies flowing to a shadowy Liberal organisation the 'North Sydney Forum'. And this CORRUPTION PARTY expects people to vote for them on March 28th!

david f, faith isn't belief without evidence, it's trust without proof.

I attended a "Meet The Candidates Forum' for the local electorate during the week. A great way for all candidates to put their position forward on a range of issues, answer voter questions etc. In typical Liberal fashion their "would-be if he could-be" was a no show, not offering an explanation, or an alternate speaker even though he was given the opportunity to do so. The audience (voters) were not impressed. Since I know him well I'll give him some stick next time I run into him, which should be this week.
