I was surprised that the Telegraph would have gotten something so wrong so I went back to the article in question.

It seems the fault was mine as a more careful reading would have shown the the quote did not directly reference the picture. It appears there was a poster with the words I quoted just not the one I linked to.

But actually, that question was addressed to others with intent. The classical legal test or measure as to the value/validity of a proposition is how would a "REASONABLE PERSON" perceive it. And the court determined quite some time ago that you didn't fall into that category --so your response wasn't called for!

None of us are "waxing lyrically," we're merely
discussing various perspectives of the issues
involved. Nothing is ever simply black or white -
and when looking at any issue its always good
to not only look from one side or the other but
from around the edges as well. What disturbs ne
is tarring any given group with the same brush -
and talking in generalities and sweeping statements
and not allowing for individual differences.
Islam covers so many different people and places -
both culturally and linguistically. They don't all
practice the religion in exactly the same way -
other religions don't ardently follow their religions
either. Also the problems of the Middle-East deal
with local issues in those areas - and the Shite's
and Sunni's are again a different matter - and they
are concerned with the problems in their region.
Then there's also the fundamentalists - who exist in
all religions, and so on.

I've always thought that you were a worthy contributor
to this forum.
It's a pity that you don't seem to respect opinions simply
because they don't agree with your take of things.
Still - perhaps you'll get over it. I hope so.
I take people as I find them. And I try not to judge
the many by the actions of a few. Also, I think it is
important to try to find out what are the factors
involved that cause people to behave the way they do -
instead of merely blaming people or
their religion.
