Dear Foxy,

Thank you for the link and indeed it is as relevant today as it was in 2005. I do like her parting sentiment;

“If contemporary Australians are to live at ease with ourselves, we need more education, less fear mongering and, not least, greater honesty about the culture of racism that is so damaging us.”

An example of that dishonesty are the replies from individual and Shockadelic both looking to deflect rather than address this pernicious undercurrent in our society.

As to Brandis and free speech I think Wilcox did a great job.

Dear SPQR,

Of course a very real difference, one I would hope you would acknowledge. Attacks against “war memorials, political party headquarters or corporate assets” do not instil fear in a person purely because of their religion or race.

Dear onthebeach,

Let me list the Liberal party members you now deem not to be in their 'right mind';

Craig Lundy - "I believe we are potentially permitting acts that have no place in our wonderfully multicultural communities,’’

David Coleman - "In my view, the exposure draft does not achieve this balance, and needs to be amended to provide greater protection against racial discrimination. I will be conveying this view to my colleagues.’’

John Alexander - who met with Senator Brandis to 'express his opposition'.

Philip Ruddock and Ken Wyatt also expressed concerns.

Dear Hasbeen'

You wrote;

“That's all right , were used to you talking rubbish, we just ignore it.”

No you demonstrably do not. You read it, you digest it, then you inanely comment on it. Perhaps the solution might be that from now on when you see a thread of mine just don't open it and we can take hence forth take it as a given that you are ignoring it. In fact I promise to pause just before I click the 'post' button to think of Hasbeen studiously ignoring my comments.

As to 'we' I think the same holds for your other compatriots because they are all here commenting their little hearts out.

Religion.....the perfect crime.

It sure feels good to have no association.

Oh god, you've caught me. Steely says "No you demonstrably do not. You read it, you digest it," etc.

Well while I must admit I catch an occasional line of rubbish from your keyboard, let me assure you I don't ever "digest" any of it.

In fact I would not even let my dog digest such rubbish. Not only would the RSPCA probably charge me with cruelty to dumb animals, I don't want her to get sick & die, from eating such swill.

@Steele,

<<SPQR,Of course a very real difference...[My example showed attacks designed to]... instil fear in a person purely because of their religion or race.>>

Firstly, your second example/link --from a cursory reading -- could well be plain and simple a case of ransacking/vandalism, can't recall any slogans?

Secondly, how is the fear felt by an employee of a business targeted by animal rights activists (for example) any less than the "fear" felt by Muslims on seeing anti-Islamic graffiti -- Or, a motorist/ delivery driver caught up in rowdy anti-globalist/G8 demonstration?

You are pandering to one of your pet groups, 'fess-up?

funny when the 'progressives ' were warned of the stupidity of inviting people with a hate for the western nations to live here they scoffed. Now we see the outcome of their stupidity (obvious to anyone not closed minded and bigotted) they want to blame those complaining about 'white trash 'being raped, polygamy and child brides. They are incapable of humbling themselves and facing up to their stupidity.Go to France, England, Sweden, Germany or anywhere else where the 'progressives ' have had their way and their stupidity is blatantly obvious.

Hi Steelie,

Has it ever occurred to you that you never, ever, respond to the questions asked?

Life is such a bitch of course, especially if your “opinion” is challenged. You have morphed into a “concerned troll”. You say, I think this and that, and then you throw in that progressive starter for abdication, you know the “but’ word.

We are increasingly aware on OLO of your “style”. It does not work any more, time to update from ancient “progressive scrolls”, they no longer work.

You have retained support from Foxy and OUG, the rest have sort of, abandoned you. This is great because we know what we are dealing with but for you, this is not a great look.

So, yes there may have been attacks on Muslim communities and possibly even individuals “but”, there have also been horrific attacks by Muslims on western communities?

When such as you try to distance yourself from your culpability for the influx of immigrants that increasingly feature in both local and international crimes like foreign wars, you offer us the old “but” word. How convenient?

Australians should be given the opportunity to vote for those we send to fight foreign sectarian and “cultural” conflicts. How would you like me to vote for you?
