Another link.
And yes from the other side of politics than mine.
He in this matter has my support.
I admit, in an effort to be kind, nice, even handed, my party, SOME of its supporters, often, overlooks the national feelings on this issue and yes others, boat people.
Kid your self, but you are trying to paddle up a water fall PC an in my view evil thing!
Haunts us even here.
I will just bet, as he MUST, our Host Graham is concerned.
Will we go too far.
Will some ill-equipped to find a balance push us to the wrong headlines, even see, and it has taken place the lifeblood advertising away.
Let us not do that.
But too let us not cringe in the corner.
If we, the contributors to OLO, marched yesterday in the heart of once moderate Egypt, or any Muslim City.
Chanting the filth of yesterday, holding signs asking for the be heading and for respect for CHRISTIANITY?
We would now be dead, the women raped first.
Care to say it is not true?

I've been sitting here trying to think of the best
way to reply to those who think I'm looking at things
through "rose-coloured glasses." I don't think that's
what I'm doing. I simply don't believe in blaming an
entire group of people for the actions of a few fundamentalists
in their group. I'm not condoning the violence by any means.
I am against violence - and the breaking of our laws - no
matter who does it - and I do believe that people who break
our laws should pay the penalties for doing so.

What I am trying to avoid here though is making generalisations
about a religion that I don't know that much about - and
how many of us really do? What's on the news and in the papers -
does often not portray the reality of things as we know.
And, fundamentalists exist in all religions not only in Islam.

Anyway, this protest has been condemned by Muslim Leaders in
Australia and I can only trust that this will discourage
the fundies from taking this sort of violent action in the
future. It has done a great deal of harm to whatever cause
they thought they were protesting.

Thanks for the advice, SPQR.

I was referring to Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha...all he needed (in the end) was a river.

All I'm seeing here - and in the riots -and in the world - are insecure bickering humans...such is life.

Calm your farm Belly, nobody is going to get into trouble.
Premier O'Farrell is stil trying to say that this is a "minority" of Muslims and that multiculturalism is the key to our success, both of which are such blatantly stupid ideas that it's sure to reduce normal people's opinion of his administration even further.
The phrase "Diversity is our greatest strength" was a talking point invented for a specific "Anti Racism" campaign by the Israeli lobby group the ADL in the U.S.A, it was then adopted by America's political caste after it was written into a speech for Bill Clinton.
The problem is that people like the Premier keep repeating what is obviously a dumb idea which has no basis in fact and is contradicted at every turn by what any normal person observes in their daily life.
Muslims don't believe in "diversity" and how, pray tell does diversity factor into their colonialist military doctrine called Islam, you're either a Muslim or you're not in their view.
O'Farrell has no choice but to repeat these stupid platitudes, he's stuck between a rock and hard place on this issue because there are a lot of misinformed people who are less intelligent than he but who nonetheless vote for him and they really believe in this "diversity" foolishness.

SPQR,

Actually, contrary to your assertion, I am not trying to find excuses for the outbreak of violence following the release of the film on Islamic TV. I am trying to understand the motivations behind such a deliberate move. Naturally, this begs the question: who has the most to gain? Perfectly reasonable, I would have thought and I fail to understand your rancour.

By not taking into consideration the reliance by whoever backed the YouTube clip upon the radical element of Islam to rise up in protest, we are only seeing a tiny part of the picture.

Of course, for those who only want to use the riots as an excuse to rant about the genetic inbreeding of Muslims (Bazz), the terrifying influx of ‘illegal’ male boat people – clearly a no-so-subtle move by Indonesia to undermine our wonderful country – (Phillip S), advocate violent punishments against all and any such protests (individual), cast blanket blame on all Muslims for the actions and incitements of a radical element (Jay of Melbourne), call for legal discrimination against Muslims in this country (Banjo), differentiate between ‘real Aussies’ and those Islamic usurpers (crackcup) and bemoan the deterioration of ‘our great nation’ by allowing Islam a place in ‘our’ society (rechtub), then anything I say or any questions I ask will have no effect. C’est la vie.

My biggest concern about some of the views expressed here is that if Sydney had experienced no riots, this thread would probably never have started, even though the same violence is simmering world-wide. To restrict our views to only what happens on our doorstep is really alarming.

To quote Beryl Bainbridge: “If you hold an object that close to your eyes, you shut out the rest of the world”.

That said, thanks for taking the time to respond.

A crowd of Union members dressed similarly blocking access to Grocon chanting slogans!

A large crowd of people with funny hats, painted faces, similarly dressed sitting/standing around a large lawn shouting and chanting slogans at a two groups of thugs fighting over a ball.

A crowd lead by men who wear dresses and wearing funny hats that protect paedophiles consider women as second class congregating and chanting slogans.

A crowd of lefties meeting in a big conference centre dressing similarly chanting slogans.

A crowd of righties meeting in a big conference centre dressing similarly chanting slogans.

I could go on but I think I have illustrated my point. These as well as the so called Islamic riot are an exercise by those who desire power, influence and reward from the ignorant and gullible. The reality is there is no God of any franchise. There are no photos, recordings or documentaries. We do know God has a penis as most of them are referred to as “he”, which suggest they are invented by a males. I can’t imagine what he would do with it. The propaganda says even Mary was a virgin. Perhaps there is a Mrs God or perhaps God has a same sex partner.

I believe we can reduce the problems the above and other example not mentioned by:

Ignoring them.
Removing their tax free status.
Not subsidising them.
Not accepting any form of violence or intimidation.
Removing advertising as a tax deductable expense.
Reduce your ignorance and gullibility.
Don’t seek power.

I wonder if god could be a rich lawyer or wears buggie smugglers.
