You have to hand it to the folk who made that movie, though, don't you. If in fact there is a movie - as far as I am aware, there is only a fourteen-minute "trailer".
It was clearly designed to create exactly the violent confrontations that we have seen. The religious fanatics have been encouraged, in the crudest and most transparent manner, to protest "blasphemy", which has in turn given the xenophobes full licence to vocalize their "towelheads go home" mantra. Perfect. Both sides are demonstrating that they are so gullible, that such a nakedly blatant attempt to stir up trouble has been so wildly successful. And the filmmaker meanwhile sits behind his defence of "freedom of speech", knowing full well that the objective was not to exercise that freedom, but instead to make sure extremists on both sides of the religious fence react to the dogwhistle, and go for each other's throats. So, credit where credit is due. Whoever is behind the "movie" has quite cynically exploited the credulity of bigots on both sides, and even now is probably giggling hysterically at how stupid and easily led people can be. Dear Yabby,
You write “On any objective analysis, I concluded that it is a violent religion by nature” and “So where Islam goes, trouble usually follows. That is just the reality of it,”. Yet when one looks at the history of the 20th century with Christians delivering the Holocaust and the genocidal mass slaughter in the Yugoslav conflict which was well into the later half of that period, all within 'modern' Europe, then any objective analysis hardly puts Islam at the head of the pack on the violence score. I consider both Christianity and Islam as the bastard children of Judaism with all the insecurities implicit in that relationship. I think there was a very real fear dictating the movement of European Jewry after WW2 and their ultimate infliction on the Palestinians, you tell me who they feared the most in making that decision. Dear Pericles, Here is the TYT take on the matter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dqHt6gsoxU&list=UU1yBKRuGpC1tSM73A0ZjYjQ&index=31&feature=plcp And an update. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1LU7t3mSHo&list=UU1yBKRuGpC1tSM73A0ZjYjQ&index=11&feature=plcp Not that I agree entirely with Cenk but he does give an American perspective that is instructive though slightly unrealistic. An interesting observation Pericles and one that I ponder about
sometimes. I don't claim to have all the answers. OTOH I did read up a bit of evolutionary psychology and they claim that tit for tat is in fact the best strategy in life. Turning the other cheek is a dismal failure. It didn't work to well for the Jews, during WW2, for instance. My answer is to live in the country. You people can fight it all out in the cities.I frankly don't think too highly of my species. Posted by Yabby, Sunday, 16 September 2012 7:04:36 PM

Hang on Csteele, you confuse racism and tribalism with religious hatred. I don't think that Hitler read the bible and interpreted it as that he should wipe out the Jewish race. There is a great book by Ali Dashti, a Persian who grew up attending the Madrasses etc, but who eventually became a journalist. He wrote a book called "23 Years", about the historical life of Muhammed. He asked for the book to be translated into English and published, after his death, which it was. Muhammed was a very smart fellow, but he didn't get too far preaching at first. So he formed an army and all those in his army were to believe in his religion too. They started by raiding camel trains, but before long they grew larger and larger and soon were taking over whole countries. Muhammed had two sides. One moment he could preach peace and love, the next he preached war. Dashti examines all this. I suggest you perhaps read it, to further understand what is happening globally and why. Its orgins are quite clear. Posted by Yabby, Sunday, 16 September 2012 7:42:07 PM

How many people have actually seen this Utube movie the Islamists have killed innocent people over? Maybe a lot of young computer nerds who spend hours watching politically extreme videos.
I’ll bet most of middle Australia and America haven’t even seen the second-rate, trashy, movie. It would be too boring to interest them. What about the Christian religion and the “ Di Vinci Code” movie, which was actually a real movie seen on the big screen by a huge percentage of people in many countries and was disliked by the Christian church but it certainly didn’t result in people being killed. It was also a widely read bestselling book. Again no bloodshed by the Christians. This shows how far the Christian religion has come in being able to accept criticism and questioning without murder as compared to the Moslem religion. If the Moslems are so blessed by God, then how come so many of these Moslem countries are so overpopulated, poor and miserable compared to the abundance, freedoms and great way of life in Western countries? Looks to me as though God has blessed the Western countries not the Moslem countries. Isn’t that obvious. Posted by CHERFUL, Sunday, 16 September 2012 8:34:18 PM

And no other poster, see I remember tens of time you did as Kactuz says, said it is wrong BUT!
Kactuz has it right read the manual for murder they worship.
Who do we blame for these international riots?
Murders, be aware some who post here do not have other than others interests in mind.
The real loss is to the good and honest Muslims, yesterday, todays blindness from those not condemning it, will take 20 years to undo.
Yet more, it is just the start in those 20 years we will suffer far worse in the name of a God? read the koran!
We must confront a truth we have imported trouble extreme action alone can fix this, pay them to leave.
