Cameras scanning signs about beheadings,
an apparently violent angry crowd - throwing
things at police - how many in the crowd
exactly? 100?

The cameras don't scan the speakers asking the
protesters for calm, or even people amongst the
group trying to do the same. That's not news.

I'm not condoning any form of violence - be at
at protests, football matches, of political rallies.
However, I still feel that we can't blame the
actions of a few on the many.
And I do question the agenda of those that came
prepared to obviously cause trouble - when the
speakers kept asking for calm from the crowd (as
reported in The Sydney Morning Herald).

Still, I guess - presenting images of signs about
beheadings fits in with some people's images of
Islam. It conjures forth images of women behind veils,
of adulterers being stoned, of thieves having their
hands cut off, of public floggings and executions,
of martyrdom in holy wars, and, in extreme cases, of
political fanaticism exemplified in aircraft hijackings
and terrorist bombings.

This picture is rather distorted, but it is based on what
is newsworthy rather than what is typical.

I think that right now the Islamic community as indeed every other religious community, has a perfect opportunity to rid themselves of their fanatically destructive elements. Many of these rioters are on video & one leader has actually said he had recognised some on TV.
So, all you religious communities show your integrity & your commitment to integrity now.
Openly EXPELL those rioters from your places of worship. Do that & your communities will be bee seen in the light you want to be seen in.

The film was written, produced and directed by individuals who all used pseudonyms to hide their real identity. Why? And why the release on Islamist TV just prior to the anniversary of 9/11? Hardly coincidental.

The question we should be asking is who stands to gain the most from spreading Islamic unrest, in the ME and around the world, AT THIS TIME?

- The Republicans and their supporters worldwide, 6 weeks before the US election?
- Israel, smarting from US refusal to take immediate military action against Iran?
- Iran, struggling under imposed international sanctions?
- Syria, embroiled in civil unrest?
- Opponents of the Arab Spring?
- Coptic Christians and their supporters seeking to stir the pot?

Pick any one of the above and you’d be close. The one certainty is the country with the least to gain by the unrest at this time is the US.

This ‘stunt’ could well cost Obama the election and take us all a step closer to war in the ME.

Lexi I've spoken to someone who was there, it was over 300 people by his estimation and there were no "calls for calm" and there was no peaceful protest, they saw the Police, they attacked, it was as simple as that. At least we know whose side you're on Lexi.

Lexi: I know that you mean to be the voice of reason, considering all sides of the argument, or in this case the rioting, BUT the images that you speak of are representative of the teachings of the Quiran, beliefs that these people live and die for!

There are obviously a lot of problems within the teachings of Islam, as is indicated by some devotees who claim that their religion does not believe in or advocate violence against another human being, whilst at the same time we hear others screaming "Death to the Infidels!"....this like many other forms of religous fervour needs to be subjected to very close scrutiny and cleaned up before we are all embroiled in another Crusade.

We don`t hear the Catholics,Presbyterians,Baptists or similar religous groups advocating death or violence against members of other faiths for feigned infringements of the rules, so why should we as a so-called civilized society have to accept it from these malcontents?

I think that our Government should heed the warnings coming from "real Aussies" and cease allowing all the world`s garbage to fill our country with racial violence and contempt for our way of life, simply because Australia has been known to be a believer in the policy of "fair go"!....what about a "fair go" for us and our families and their families in years to come?
