I didn't know you were blind, my apologies. There was one particular picture where a child held up a sign for all those who offended islamists to be beheaded. That's quite a lot more radical than some cartoons.

We are a complementary species after all...and us women folk (excluding csteele coz he's a bloke) need our blokes for physical protection against "the other side's blokes", because blokes tend to physical violence as a way of solving disputes or imposing belief systems.

Not always, of course, but often that's the way it is.

So, yup, we depend on the "unsoftness" of you men and your attitudes to protect us from the same traits in the men who would threaten us...seems to be a pattern there, although I can't quite put my finger on it.

You'll have to excuse my silly feminine idea that perhaps we could all attempt to find some common ground - if we really try. Sheesh, with our over-sized neo-cortex and accompanying intelligence, is it too much to ask that we use it?

Perhaps somewhere down the evolutionary track we might make some headway....although I presume we'll send ourselves extinct before that day comes.

I read somewhere that the trouble came from the Wahabi extremists
who have settled in Sydney. These are people who learned to hate
from when they were little kids. These were the people bearing
the signs " we will go to paradise, you will go to hell". These
were the people bearing the sixth pillar on their chests.

Quite honestly Poirot, no matter how smart you are, I don't think
you will change such engrained extremist beliefs, for its not about
reason, its about fanatical dogma. The only way to deal with them,
is from a position of strength. Personally I am intolerant of the
intolerant.

Just as an aside, my cousin who was an outstanding student, who became a teacher and is now a health educator completing a PhD, became a Christian nearly thirty years ago. I was talking to her one day when she first began nursing, and was shocked when she mocked evolutionary theory...I mean I was gobsmacked given her antecedents and the turnaround in her thought processes.
