I've just removed a couple of posts above. In case anyone is wondering why you shouldn't be able to argue about moderation decisions on the site it is because to do so means discussing the particulars of the matter that called for the moderation in the first place, which in effect means repeating the breach.

This forum is for discussing issues, not giving people advice on personal matters.

The Sleepers

“We journeyed for some time..till we came to a cave,..and here I found quite a number/of men..fast asleep...Strive as I would,..I could not wake them.

“This surprised me,..for till then..I had never seen..*anyone asleep in these realms..having no bodies,..we do not require sleep.

“I questioned my Guardian-Angel,..who now had drawn much nearer to me.

“He looked very sad as he replied:..“‘Son,
these were men..who stoutly maintained that*..after death.,.*there was no life.

They were strong-willed men who,..had they believed,..might
have done much good;..as it is they led many astray,..and since they held*..this view so*strongly..they have,..as it were,..self-hypnotized..*themselves into a state of coma,..from/which it is very hard to rouse them.

Here they lie,..age after age,..and while men
whom the-world..considered far worse than they,
and who had sunk..far lower in Hell,..have been able
to see the error of their ways..and progress,..they remain unconscious,..and cannot thus..*learn.’

“The Officer:..‘This is truly terrible;..is there no way of waking them?’

“My Guide:..‘After long ages..the spell grows weak,..then there come to them great-messengers..of light,..who,after much striving,..do succeed in breaking through..their sleep..and rousing them.’

“At length..we reached a place..of deep chasms..and beetling crags,..and after wandering/along at the base of a range of these cliffs..we came in sight of a narrow,..slippery stairway.

As we did so..suddenly a figure..came hurtling through the air..and fell to the ground in front of us...It sprang to its feet and fled away into the darkness,..and was soon lost to sight..among the crags and chasms.

“‘Who was that?’..I inquired of my guide.
“‘Some unfortunate creature..who has offended against the traditions of the sixth-division...They pride themselves..on their respectability there,..and those who offend too deeply are hurled forth..by the outraged inhabitants.

Self-righteousness is the besetting sin there.
They love to judge their neighbor..and to spread scandal.

But look,..soon you will be able to judge..for yourself what manner of men who dwell..in the sixth division of Hell.’..

...“The town..consisted for the most part..of modern-looking houses of the dreary,..respectable type..that one sees in many of the London suburbs.

Some attempt was/evidently made..
to keep the place moderately clean,..and

Graham I am honestly confused, I read back over the message I left (still sitting in word for the spell check).

And I don’t understand, we can never mention the topic of Parenting Rights again or I can’t respond to anything that was there and all subject matter it contained and I can’t really ask either because then I am discussing moderation and we aren’t allowed to?

We are not to give advice to each other anywhere or just on the subject of Parenting Rights which I am only naming to be clear not in an attempt to bring the subject back again.

Can I just publically thank George for his story and Poirot for what he said?

Your place your rules and I am all good with it but can you clarify the rules?

Pied Piper,

We sympathised with jinny ... yet we don't know the full story. No-one goes through life without experiencing a tragedy, or more.

DreamOn was absolutely correct. If jinny had tried to open herself to the fact that these people were concerned about her children - albeit mistakenly so - perhaps she could have handled it better. Sociolinguists know that there is one language for one situation and a different one for another. A doctor talks differently with his associates than he does with his children, vice versa. One's language and demeanor changes with each environment in which one is involved. A Court of Law is such an environment ... without which it would be bedlam. One can be "different" as much as one wants, but it is a common courtesy to respect others.

one under god,

You are obviously a good and devout person. However, most thoughtful people, and undoubtedly most OLO here, do try to improve their and others' lives. They do it quietly. I find your proselytizing extremely grim - even morbid. Religion is supposed to be joyful and uplifting. Didn't Jesus say something about G-d's yoke being light. Frankly, with your version of religion, I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning.

Hey Danielle, shoosh we aren’t allowed to talk about it. :P

I have to say I have zero sympathy for Jinny but from all I have read (which may be more than others given I’ve been hanging about all day reading stuff that has since disappeared) I certainly don’t want to see her punished in any way or her children taken. We can hope QL has maybe a decent type of early intervention type program that they make use of.

When in Saudi Arabia I dressed very differently to how I do here… because impressions matter and my children were young when we were there. Any stray strand of my blonde hair pretty much marked me as a whore when in public so I was careful to keep it hidden. I did not look men in the eye, I find Aussie a much easier place to be in generally.

How through OLO can you help quietly? You mean like in real life not here Danielle? Language, tone, all very tricky on a forum and obviously how the reader is feeling at the time will matter a lot. I wish I had better skills as far as message delivery goes. I often read back and think I put something unintentionally in completely the wrong way with the wrong punctuation and the meaning changed dramatically.

““He looked very sad as he replied:..“‘Son,
these were men..who stoutly maintained that*..after death.,.*there was no life.”

Well that’s a worry OUG. But if they are asleep forever I guess they were right proven right? I like the whole Terry Prachett Disc world thing about how everyone goes to the afterlife they believe in. And Gods getting bigger the more people that believe in them.
