now spirit...needs a body...this next body..is called the astral/body
which contains our soul[body]...and the life spirit..that animates it...

WHERE did they go?

initially they got to the astral plane[usually following a period..called darkness[during which our senses..adjust..to the new ways of seeing/hearing..etc]...ie direct.,.

but via the medium..of the astral body..[containing our soul body...and gods life spirit..[sustaining it all to live]
