one under God

So sorry if it appeared otherwise (not that you would have taken it that way), but my last reply was to Master not you.

Hey Arjay… colonies (group/flocks whatever they are called) of monkey’s that have never come in to contact with humans have been discovered to be peace loving and do not display the same behavior as “studied” chimps etc.

The theory was around that humans when they started studying them were feeding them and this made them protective of the area and the food supply and then aggressive. They learnt from us, how cute.

But... studies have shown elephants remember past abuse and then hunt down humans and kill them, I figure that is pretty high up on the hate scale.

Piper, it depends on the species, there are huge variations, even
with closely related species.

Chimps are known to patrol their boundaries and attack other
chimps from other tribes. Bonobos on the other hand, when they
meet another tribe of bonobos, they all have sex together and there
is no need for anyone to fight or hate. I guess they are too
happy and buggered :)

Yet genetically chimps and bonobos are pretty close.

So the moral of the story is "make love not war". Our primate
cousins invented it first!

Dear OUG,

Why do we love to hate others?
Not everybody does - and perhaps 'hate,'
is too strong a word as other posters
have pointed out.

Most prejudices are based on
ignorance and fear, and the malignant thought form
that 'other people are the problem.'
Many people think that their way is the right
way and that people that are 'different,' are bad.

Malice and intolerance has always stalked society.

The only way to change things - is to check
the 'hatred,' in our own minds. Our thoughts must
shift away from the infantile finger-pointing that
seems to pervade so much of our society. Whether we're
a malignant or a healing force is up to each of us -
on a moment by moment basis. With every thought we
decide whether to place the blame on others. Either
we clean up the anger, or eventually the anger will
overwhelm us.

I think my flatmates in the '80's were indeed part Bonobos.

TPP now do not miss judge me jewely, I am an alpha male, getting on a bitbut still.
Short fused quite likely to anger but hate?
No not truly , hate is a very strong word, think about it.
I deal with grubs, true nasties daily, and some times with the very best people.
I must understand the difference, almost instantly, both types can at first look like the other.
May once, younger and different I may have hated for a second, whack some one? yes but hate? no sorry.
Worth noting my worst enemy, his worst enemy , is a sibling, and watching him has told Me blind hate is a waste.
