So Trump deliberately kept classified documents, as all past presidents have, in the hope the FBI would raid him and put him on trail Foxy?
And none of the other issues even exist?

To think that is not only crazy, but completely ridiculous.

Paul writes: "America is a corrupt joke, "

And yet remains a preferable system to those that you troll for.

AC writes: "It's not just the Hunter Biden laptop on it's own."

Yes I'm well aware that there are enormous numbers of other issues which is why I wrote "Just two issues (and there are dozens of them)."

We now see that there are claims of Biden receiving $10 million (at least!!) in bribes from Ukrainian entities. One has to wonder just how that affected the decisions about supporting Ukraine in the war.

david f writes: ". I think the principle that no one is above the law is worth having a few resentments and recriminations."

Agreed. The law being paramount is an admirable aim and one of the bedrocks of western civilisation. But that is only so if indeed the system operates as though 'no one is above the law'. When it ceases to be that, when we see that some are indeed above the law, it merely becomes a political tool. And that's what is happening at the moment in Democrat controlled America.

The Brookings Institution tells us that:

"Never before have we had a President who schemed to
overturn legitimate election results, who attacked
the press and civil servants who worked for him. Who
admired dictators, who blatantly profited from his
public office and who repeatedly lied to the public
for his own selfish purposes."

But while Trump's 4 years of rhetoric have been a shock
to democratic norms, did they inflict permanent damage
to American democracy?

The Brookings Institution gives a definite - NO.
The say that:

"The guard rails of democracy held. The institutions
designed to check autocracy are intact."

They go on to say that:

"Successful democracies are not designed for governments
composed of ethical men and women - who are only interested
in the public good. If leaders were always virtuous there
would be no need for checks and balances."

"The Foundation Fathers understood this. They designed a
system to protect minority points of view and to protect
us from leaders inclined to lie, cheat, and steal.
Fortunately we haven't had many of those in our 200-plus
years of history, which is why the Trump Presidency sent
such shock waves through a large part of the body politic."

"We now see that there are claims of Biden receiving $10 million (at least!!) in bribes from Ukrainian entities. One has to wonder just how that affected the decisions about supporting Ukraine in the war."

I think it was 5 million for Hunter and 5 million for 'The Big Guy'
They even have audio of them saying "There are so many shell companies and money transfers that it'd take 10 years to figure it all out", or something to that effect.

I watch many youTube videos, sometimes it's hard for me to remember which one it was in my watch history and find where something was stated.
Finding specific tweets in Twitter is even harder.

"I think the principle that no one is above the law is worth having a few resentments and recriminations."
- While that's correct, it doesn't change the fact that the case against Trump is politically motivated, and not necessarily about Trumps failure to surrender or declassify documents himself before he left office.

I'm sure they specifically went looking for some kind of infraction they could get him on to put him out of the race, it wouldn't have mattered what that issue was, they would've used it.
We need to be mindful of this.

They've been doing all this underhanded stuff going right back to 2015 / 2016 when they used the false Russiagate claims to get the FISA warrant to spy on the Trump election campaign in 2016.

And don't forget how Ukraine itself ties into all of this; Trump was looking for the DNC server which was moved out of his reach to the US Embassy in Kiev, and the claimed 'Russian' hackers were likely Ukrainian, not Russian.

Even many of Trumps administration spoke about disregarding his requests and undermining him.

This whole entire mess goes back so far that the cries of 'Drain the Swamp' by Trump supporters in 2016 is even much more true today than it was then.

Further information:

An Inside Story on the web is interesting with Amy Koch,
Republican political strategist doing a great summary:

"Donald Trump is the front runner for the Republican
nomination despite criminal charges. He stunned the
political establishment and the world by winning the
race for the White House nearly 7 years ago."

"Two impeachments, a lost election and a failed
insurrection later, the 77 year old is hoping to do the
same in next year's US presidential poll."

"And, so far, he is the frontrunner to become the
Republican nominee. At the same time he's facing dozens
of criminal charges and several investigations. But will
these sink his political ambitions? Or will they help
him win more support?"

Some people keep referring to his "strength?"
Plutonium is also strong. But unpredictable - not unlike
Trump. You don't know if it going to keep you warm or
blow up your town.

It's interesting that there are only two democrats
willing to take on Joe Biden for the US Presidential
election in 2024 and there are over 12 Republicans
challenging Donald Trump.
