Well, Morgan, along with noticing she seems to be slacking off in the PR of her films, I get the feeling she fell into a lull, or a complacency after she became an instant "media darling" after being dumped by cruise, where everything she did was praised and nominated right and left. Although she seemed to take on film after film, I wouldn't doubt that her behavior and demands only got worse, I would say by the choice of roles, she seems to not have given it much thought. If the script was talky, and dreary, and slighty off kilter, she was in. The films she did seem to be at the mercy and whims of the directors she chose to work with, almost like they had a concept, threw together a script, and despite being incoherant and meandering, it didn't seem to matter to her, one way or the other. In fact, she seems to be a masocist for the mundane in her movies.

Morgan you really need to dust off the camoflague pants and re-stock your utility belt and go out and get work on the film "Australia". Infiltration into this project is the only way we can keep stock of the latest machinations of the Kidman. Being stuck in the back of nowhere with the heat and flies and a preening Baz Lurhmann is sure to trigger a series of vitriolic spac attacks and we (and the coroner) will need all the details.

Skye, I'm way too old and way, way too intolerant these days. I bowed and scraped along with everyone else back in those days to the stars like Kidman but I would lose my job immediately if ever I returned to that work now, because I have lost my inclination to brown-nose. (which I had to do...there were always plenty of others who wanted my job, no matter how lowly-ranked on the crew ladder it was. I was not what you would call an 'important crew member'. Quite the opposite. I could be easily replaced.). Back in those days of the eighties the film industry boomed here. Very exciting time and an opportunity, once you were signed up on a job, to literally see the world. Not everything was shot in Australia. Fantastic memories. But to return to a situation of pandering to the likes of Botaxia would make me throw up all over the make-up trailer ! And hopefully, all over her.

Not 'Our Nic' was excellent in 'To Die For', possibly because of typecasting.
She was pretty good in 'The Interpretor' as a duplicitous liar.

'Bewitched' was dreadful. Can she play 'nice' ?

Can anyone remind me of a successful film where she has played a positive character?
(not 'Days Of Thunder' because that succeeded on the Tom factor)

Brownie, I can think of a few positive characters but it was a long time ago and for anyone in the States, they'd posibly be unknown. She was just a (big-headed, self-delusional) kid but they were roles in Bush Christmas, BMX Bandits and Five Mile Creek. I didn't see Dead Calm on principle. What was her character like in that? I also didn't see Portrait of a Lady on principle. Don't know what her character was like in that either although at the time I saw her interviewed on TV about the role and the people I was with at the time all roared with laughter when the interviewer asked her if it had been her idea or the director's, to hit her head against a wall in frustration in the film. Naturally she took credit for it and they showed a quick glimpse of the scene referred to and it was quite hilarious. Looked more like something Mr. Bean would do. Or Basil Fawlty.
