Growing unease about Muslim immigration should be a part of our political conversation.

Dear Bazz,

Since you take no interest in my inability to ride a bicycle, which prevents me from being fitter and healthier and causes me to be bereft of transportation if my car breaks down or when it is being repaired or serviced, then I take no interest in your little Muslim problem and the survival of your civilisation - that same civilisation which prohibits me to ride a bicycle.

P.S. I pay for my medical bills myself - I refuse to receive any money or benefits from the state.

Yuyutsu, seeing as I can no longer vote liberal, I'm considering voting for the first party to make bike riding on public roads illegal. Now that, along with outlawing Muslim immigration, would be a good basis for a party, much better than this green rubbish.

On the other hand, I do have some sympathy with divers position.

The rise of Islam will definitely cure the problem of the current feminist takeover. It will also get rid of the homosexual marriage controversy, probably by simply getting rid of the homosexuals.

It will save a fortune by getting all those silly girls out of universities, where they obviously have no place, & fix my pet hate, those simpering, silly, long bottle blond straight haired girls, pretending to be TV journalists.

My only worry is I hate dirty, dusty, bare feet in sandals, but I guess I could manage even that when they get women out of parliament.

Where do I join?

There you are Suse, & the other girls, have a go at that.

Diver Dan,

Do you mean "Liberalism" or liberalism? Are you referring to the Liberal Party? There is no such proper noun as Liberalism. The common noun liberalism refers to libertarianism, latitudinarianism, broad-mindedness, open-mindedness, toleration, tolerance, unbigotedness. (Roget).

I don't believe that you are against those things. Islam is against those things, so I suppose you could be too.

Now you might not like the government - although I thought all the Lefties liked Turnbull the Backstabber - but most of those characteristics are shared by the Liberal Party. Even their partners, the Nationals, would share those ideals. Even Labor pretends it does, and is certainly more liberal than Islam

But you prefer Islam! Amazing! What the hell are you doing living in a Western democracy? There are a number of 'nice' Islamic countries where you could have what you want - and deserve.

Doog, you asked about changing the Koran.
Sorry that is forbidden at pain of death.

Islam may eventually destroy itself.
They have a number of disadvantages, they suppress the intellectual
vitality of half their population.
Cousin marriage has given them a lower average IQ.
Their economy has an ongoing higher expense for disabled persons.

They rely on the tax on infidels.
However to avoid the tax eventually businessmen pretend to convert.
This reduces their government revenue.
Corruption in their ecomomy is endemic.
Dictatorships are fundamentally unstable and a theological dictatorship
may be no different.

The Islamic countries in the current times are richer and have more
resources than they have ever had. All this will end as their oil
income declines.
Already Saudi Arabia has a financial problem due to the lower income.
It will probably rise again before it declines permanently.
When that happens the Middle East will become an agricultural economy
mainly intent on supporting their own populations.

Islam like Christianity has developed schisms that have existed for
1400 years. Christianity developed, after a couple of hundred years,
a method of coexistence.

The rigidity of Islam appears to me to be related to their
intellectual disabilities and their inability to compromise and have tolerance.

Is Berlin the new "Gates of Vienna" ?
Can we hold them off until they collapse under their own theologial fascist system ?

//Since you take no interest in my inability to ride a bicycle//

Your inability to ride a bicycle? Are you that top heavy that adding a very light helmet will throw off your balance and prevent you from cycling?

//that same civilisation which prohibits me to ride a bicycle.//

Nobody is preventing you from cycling, Yuyutsu. They aren't even preventing you from cycling with an exposed head, if that is so important to you. It's just that if you get caught cycling without a helmet you'll cop a modest fine. It's up to you to decide whether your freedom to cycle sans helmet is more or less important to you than your money. Of course, the easiest and most sensible option is to avoid getting caught, which really isn't hard if you pick your cycling route carefully. In my part of the world there are lots of cycleways and none of them are patrolled by police.

Yet another anti-Muslim rant/fear-fest, as responses to an article that asks the questions most Australians ask.
The horse has already bolted boys!

We already have quite a few both Australian born and migrant Muslims living in Australia. All these people are Australians like anyone else. They will have friends and relatives living overseas in very many countries.

Can you imagine, on one of your less paranoid days, what all these other people and countries will think if Australia says 'Yes, we will take immigrants, but not Muslims.'?
They may well refuse to trade with us (think oil) or allow tourism or investment in Australia. Or worse, they could become quite aggressive towards us.

While we can legitimately refuse entry to anyone suspected of terrorism, or being in contact with any criminals, or indeed any crime, we can't just make a blanket statement that we won't allow people of such a popular religion to come to Australia if they are able to tick all the immigration papers boxes correctly.

The new PM is absolutely doing the right thing by being inclusive of law-abiding Australians who practice the Muslim religion, yet clamping down on anyone even suspected of committing or supporting any violence or terrorism in our community.
