'I also thought it was unlawful to make a public nucence of yourself, yell abuse, etc, etc.' Not if you are aboriginal or from the left. The academic elite have or make up laws to protect those pursueing their dogmas. Posted by runner, Friday, 27 January 2012 10:53:35 PM

Joe,
I agree, perhaps a moot point anyway, given the history of referenda in Australia. I really just wanted to highlight the hypocrisy of this group, and the potential dangers of their proposals. My question to these people is who exactly do they blame for past wrong-doings? All non-aboriginal Australians? White Australians? People with British heritage? Surely not those brought here against their will (convicts). Eventually, the aboriginal people will have to realize that Australia exists, and thanks to that we all have equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities. Those that are born here, have no where else to go, we will not apologize for being here. Posted by Stezza, Saturday, 28 January 2012 1:05:24 AM

Bonmot, while I accept that burning the flag may not be unlawful (I checked), ther is little doubt it is totally disrespectful.
So much money is handed out to so few, much of which is undeniably wasted, a fact that even you can not deny. We have worked tirelessly in the past decade to make good the wrongs committed by those from a previous generation. Even to the point of providing a formal apology. We have provided houses, which they have burned down. we have provided billions in welfare, much of which has been wasted on grog. Evidence being that in the town of Weipa, I can't buy myself a cask of wine during the day, as the law does not permit these be sold prior to 5pm in response to the drunken indigenous layabouts in the local parks. To think we have tolerated all this crap for years, provided all this support for years, allow a race to literally do as they like, work if they choose, send their kids to school if they choose, only to have this all un done in one day. Let's face it, we are literally pissing into a fan when it comes to helping these people. Loosers is probably the first word that comes to mind. The ironic part is, the tents they live in, the power they consume, the phones, computers etc they use to communicate, the cloths they ware and the welfare they use or choose to waste is often provided by those they despise. Where to now! Posted by rehctub, Saturday, 28 January 2012 8:18:27 AM

In fact, that former conservative Prime Minister John Howard defended the right of people to burn the Australian flag, saying that "while repugnant, it was a matter of free speech." I agree.
As to your other inflammatory slurs, they typify ignorance at best, deliberate incitement at worst, hey!
