Happy fortieth Tent Embassy : Comments

By Toni Hassan, published 26/1/2012

When four young Aboriginal men, Anderson among them, erected a beach umbrella (and later a donated tent) and called it the Aboriginal Tent Embassy they got the national media's attention.

A salute to Michael Anderson:-

...The imperative for the “Aboriginal struggle” is to avoid the “Con-Job” of Multiculturalism.

...The Aboriginal cause must stay firmly focused and united on the vision of themselves as not simply “another” culture,( such as the myriad of "Foreign Castigators" currently laying claim to ownership of Australia, through the “Rip-Off” of Multiculturalism, relentlessly promoted as the Golden God of economic salvation, by the throng of the “Politically Correct” elite); but follow the path of “Remembrance” through the now institutionalised Canberra “Tent Embassy”, as a symbolic tool to “Maintain the Rage” by laying continuing claim to that rightful “Honour”, as the only true and original modern Australian culture that the Aboriginal Nation is, in demanding genuine equality and inclusion, and genuine “Human Rights”!

Not well known or publicised is that the first protest tent in front of the old Parliament House was actually erected by a Barry Williams, an aboriginal who later founded the Lone Fathers Association that now has branches across Australia.

Some years later the larger tent embassy was erected.

Barry Williams has since organised many events inside the new Parliament House, but it appears the Lone Fathers Association is now considering class action against the government for its feminist and anti-human child support and custody laws.

So a little piece of history worth considering on Australia Day.

Do you remember when that group of African UN & civil rites people were brought to Oz by these aboriginal activists?

They were going to have a huge protest, & close down the Sydney olympics.

Remember their reaction, after they found out the facts of aboriginal welfare in Oz?

Something like "bl00dy hell, that we should be so lucky back home".

I do get sick of the bitching by boat people, pensioners, the unemployed, or our aboriginals, & the industry who live off them.

embassy is an absolute disgrace. 'White 'fellows money is used by these people to eat, get drunk, fly around the country and create anarchy. How we have let these people become so dependant on welfare is a disgrace. No wonder they have no dignity.

I've just watched an appallingly violent and cowardly attack on the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition by those claiming to represent the 'tent embassy'. If that's what the embassy represents then the sooner it is dismantled and the occupiers removed, the better for all of us. One hopes our indigenous leaders take the initiative and condemn this action. They should then use their good offices to help remove the embassy.

Tribal thinking usually endorses any actions no matter how disgusting.
