Hi Paul - great points!

"I do like your chart, I will refer to it regularly." Ouch - when reality smacks the gun-lovers in the face!

It's like Is Mise simply could not comprehend the graph he was reading? He should ask himself what the countries are even like where the murder rate is WORSE than the USA! Little details like "Are the Taliban in control - making it legal to practice honour-killings of wayward wives and children at home?" or "Are they a functional state in the first place!"

I mean, talk about lies and statistics - "America should be proud they're 67th in murder rate! Guns don't have anything to do with murder!" DERP!

Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies does a fantastic job demolishing the gun lobby.
EXTREME LANGUAGE WARNING - NOT SAFE FOR WORK! I mean - AT ALL!

Funny, I always think of South rica as a developed nation.
The rest of your diatribe is the usual lies, must really hurt to lose your firearms licence, such vindictiveness is rarely seen.
The US murder rate is in decline whereas the number of guns in civilian hands is increasing,
a clear indication that more guns means less crime.

Not so fast. In analysing something, correlation does not equal causation. EG: I wore my hat then it rained, so wearing my hat makes it rain!

What policing changes impacted the crime rate?

New York is famous for their radical policing policy which drove down crime over the last few decades. It broke all the sociological expectations, and it WORKED! The expectation was that if you targeted a crime ridden place, the crime would just move elsewhere. What they found was if you cleaned up the scary area downtown - that criminal might get scared straight and the crime NEVER happens.

Also, what impact has Covid had with everyone forced to stay home or reluctant to go out much? What about all those criminals that want to steal your TV but you're home because it's illegal to go out, or you're scared to go out and self-isolating?

What changes to the economy have happened? Etc.

A temporary reduction in the murder rate does NOT prove anything about gun ownership. But consistently having 5 times more murders than Australia DOES!

Max,
The anti-gun brigade have always claimed that more guns means more crime, so why isn’t the opposite equally valid.
Australia is a good example, there are now more guns in civilian ownership than before the gun laws, particularly pistols yet our crime rates are falling. Ergo, more guns means less crime.
Could you get a pistol licence, or would you not be deemed trustworthy enough?

Is Mise - that might be true! But it's not RELEVANT. It's not the number of guns as such - as we can only really wield 1 at a time - despite what our computer games might say. Gun collectors might buy more guns because the GDP has grown or something. But there are less gun owners - less licenced gun owners. I thought that's what you were arguing INCREASED our safety - but in fact LESS people have guns (while owning more guns.)

Did you know this fact - as in were you lying to us just then?
Or did you NOT know this fact - in which case why should we listen to anything you say on this entire topic?

You're not really good at this are you?

And it's not a little. Gun ownership has declined by THREE QUARTERS since 1997 you lying (or ignorant) little so-and-so. I can't make up my mind what you are - but either way - you're done here.

"Australian civilians now own more than 3.5 million registered firearms, an average of four for each licensed gun owner.

The proportion of Australians who hold a gun licence has fallen by 48 percent since 1997.

The proportion of Australian households with a firearm has fallen by 75 percent in recent decades.

Data indicates that people who already own guns have bought more rather than an increase in new gun owners."

Max,
There are vastly more licenced gun owners since 1997, or didn’t you know this?
There are more guns in civilian hands since 1997 so either more guns means more crime as the antis say or they are wrong..
In actual fact neither argument holds water as I’ve said in the past.
I am all in favour of the current gun laws, as I’ve said in the past, although reading the untruthful posts of the forum’s leading liar would have the uninformed, such as yourself, believing otherwise.
Some of the laws are downright stupid but we’ve learned to live with those.
You didn’t say if you would be trusted to own a pistol.
Pistol ownership has increased since 1997 as has the number of licences issued.
Perhaps you should read this and join the informed.
