shadow minister,

I'm not surprised that Pell got off on a legal
technicality (he was not exonerated). He had
the best lawyers money could buy, the support
of some very powerful people, including the Church,
and much was withheld during his trial.

And yet - in contrast the complainant has been
believed by a jury, by a majority judgement and
by a substantial body of public opinion.

Mo Foxy he got off because the timing was impossible.
Seven High Court Judges said so.

Hi Bazz,

The High Court appeal did not ask whether Pell
committed the offences. It asked whether the
two majority judges in the Victorian Court of
Appeal, in dismissing Pell's earlier appeal made
an error about the nature of the correct legal
principles, or their application.

Here's a summary of the key events:

Hasbeen etc, the HST would be a good thing if it could be made to pay.
One item on the original scheme was a high level bridge over the
Hawkesbury River and or Broken Bay. It would have the same span and
height as the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
NB, it cannot use any of the permway of the existing track, it has
to be completely new.
The other question that will raise some ire is if it does not terminate
at Central will it terminate outside Parramatta or similar.
One suggestion was the Western Sydney Airport as its terminal which
would be ideal if it was extended to Melbourne.
I wonder if they really have thought it all out to that extent ?

Mhaze the link you gave does not finish like I have a good memory of.
I suspect it was sliced out in the point near the end as the end on
the link is how I remember it.
I think it could have been live when I saw it, I am often up late.
What I think was snipped out was where he says "go peaceably" and "go home".
I am very clear about peacefully as well as go home.

I have never heard the recording since with those words.
I have been watching for them ever since.
If it was snipped very quickly after they were said, they could easily disappear.

Albanese is making a big deal of the 'fast train'. OK for those living in Melbourne, Sydney of Brisbane. Not a vote winner for people in Adelaide, Darwin, Perth, Hobart or the regions West of the Great Dividing Range.

Which reminds me of the bozos employed by the Health Commission. A woman rang the Commission and found herself speaking to one of its minions based in Brisbane. When asked where she was calling from and replied, Adelaide, the bozo, complete with Australian accent, asked her if Adelaide was in Australia.
