Hi Pete,
After Thursday (our time) next week, trump won't be President, so what would be the point - or the possibility - of impeachment ? About the only value might be to deprive Trumpf of being able to still be called 'Mr President'. After Jan 20, Trumpf is just a citizen, like other US humans, even if of a much lower grade. IF he has incited thugs to overthrow the US government or impede its operations, then the municipal and State legal authorities can put together legal cases to charge him with sedition and treason. If he is found guilty, then he pays the penalty and goes to jail - unless the penalty for treason is still execution, in which case he may not he in jail for long. On the page of US history, Trumpf will go down as just a skid-mark. Joe Posted by loudmouth2, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 12:58:10 PM

Foul-Mouth,
It is obvious to me that the reason you are always bad mouthing Trump is that you are in the pro-China camp. In fact, I believe you are either an operative or a collaborator of the Chinese. BTW Where has your Comrade Foxy aka the Beijing Butterfly gone? Not back to see Xi for another briefing I assume. Posted by Mr Opinion, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 1:18:29 PM

Hi Joe
The US House of Reps already believes it has the numbers to Impeach Trump before the 21 January (our time) Inauguration Day. The actual instruments the House may base impeachment on might be: - the 14th Amendment (Section 3) of the Consitution (ie. even past "insurrection") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_efforts_to_remove_Donald_Trump_from_office#14th_Amendment OR I think, less usefully the 25th Amendment on Trump's alleged "disability" to remain President. The 25th would be "moot" after Biden's Inauguration because Trump would already no longer be President. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_efforts_to_remove_Donald_Trump_from_office#25th_Amendment The Democrats realise the Senate would be highly unlikely to Impeach Trump before the Inauguration. HOWEVER - after the first 100 days of Biden's Presidency (ie. after 21 April 2021) the Democrats aim to pass the Impeachment Bill from the House to the SENATE. If 2/3rds of Senators vote to Impeach Trump then the DESIRED EFFECT is precluding Trump from ever becoming President again. That means Trump could not run for President in 2024 or 2028 etc. Trump may hopefully SHUT UP then. Much more detail here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_efforts_to_remove_Donald_Trump_from_office Cheers Pete Posted by plantagenet, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 1:31:37 PM

plantagenet,
You and Foul-Mouth seem to be a bit cosy, which makes me believe that you are also in the pro-China camp. Do you have a code name? Let me guess . . . . . . . Wuhan Willy. Posted by Mr Opinion, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 1:55:36 PM

Hi again Joe
FURTHER I think because Trump incited his 6 January insurrection in his stated of Immunity as President such actions would make him immune from subsequent municipal and State criminal charges. Also note there seems no talk out of the US about any courts trying Trump for his 6 January actions. HOWEVER if Trump commits FURTHER sedititious, treasonous, incitement actions AFTER 20 January WHEN HE IS A NORMAL CITIZEN I think then many municipal/State/Federal charges could apply and America could then gaol Trump. House Democrats introduced one article of impeachment against President Donald Trump today
for "incitement of insurrection" for urging his supporters to march on the Capitol last Thursday 7 Jan.
The House will vote on the impeachment measure Thursday 14 Jan after considering legislation
on Wednesday 13 Jan calls on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office before 21 January.
The planned votes come after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told Democrats that the chamber would proceed with Trump's impeachment if Pence doesn't agree to the 25th Amendment process.
Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., said the House could delay sending impeachment articles to the Senate until AFTER BIDEN'S FIRST 100 DAYS
in office to allow the president-elect to get his agenda off and running, including Covid-19 relief legislation and the confirmation of his Cabinet officials.
