To get rid of the Electoral College requires a change to the constitution. So they only need to get approval from:

2/3rd of the Federal House of Reps
2/3rd of the Federal Senate
4/5ths of the state's Governors and/or 4/5ths of the state's legislatures.

Ain't gunna happen. The left can whine all they like about what they see as unfair. But it ain't changing so they may as well get over it.

The whole 'popular' vote whinge is just to soothe their butt-hurt at losing in 2016. As I've explained before, it's invalid. Republicans like Trump and many candidates before him don't campaign in places like NewYork or California since they stand no chance of winning there and it'd be wasted effort and money.
But if winning depended on the popular vote then they would indeed campaign there and potentially pick up extra votes. Whatismore, many RNC supporters don't vote in those places since they know their vote will mean nothing. But again they would be enticed to vote if their vote might mean something.

Those two factors alone, change the whole popular vote meme. Change the rules and you change the outcome.

The left needs to just get over their tantrum. But alas...

Foxy,
Yes, I watched QandA, and I heard that claim about the Electoral College system. But I don't believe it.

AIUI the Electoral College system very strongly favours BIGGER states.
When Texas joined the USA, it was given the legal right to split into five states if and when it so chose. Splitting into five states would give them far more power in the senate. But the Electoral College system is a major factor in their current preference of remaining as a single state.

The reasons for which the Founding Fathers created
the Electoral College are no longer relevant -
members of the Electoral College are now selected
by the political parties and they are expected to
vote along party lines.

The Electoral College gives too much power to
"swing states" and allows the presidential election
to be decided by a handful of states.

And most importantly the Electoral College ignores the
will of the people.

After all it is supposed to be

We the People of the United States

NOT

We the States ...

'The left needs to just get over their tantrum. But alas...'

little chance Mhaze. Remember Brexit - it could never happen, Remember the illegal boats - impossible to stop, remember 2016 - tantrum throwing pussy heads (obviously blind to Biden's fingers) remember Kavanagh - lying feminist

Imagine the tantrum if Trump wins again. Oh that's right they already have their court challenge ready. You have to give it to the left. They are first class when it comes to tantrums.

mhaze,

Yes indeed - you are spot on!

Change the rules and you change the outcome.

And that is precisely what Americans need to do
and what's being discussed by so many there.

But it may not change the outcome the way you expect or hope.

Still it all fantasy-land stuff anyway. As I outlined above, the procedures and consensus required to achieve the change is formidable and won't happen.

It s really just some people playing electoral make-believe.

Meanwhile, in the real world....
