Some light relief (set to the sublime Beatles tune):

Wow Josephus, you are completely deluded. Astonishing.
How you can actually believe any of that fake news you posted really beggars belief. Or are you really just pulling our leg? Ha, ha. The worst of that mountain of detritus is your unconscionable unjust maligning of Joe Biden - a genuine Christian who actually appears intent on reining-back the excessively lax abortion laws operating in some States, and who is fully intent on fixing the economy and law and order the right way. A truly honest gentleman, not at all like the Trumpster. Trump on the other hand reveals himself to be a faux Christian, is intent on mass environmental destruction in sheer undisguised pursuit of votes and dollars for himself and his mates, and doesn't actually give one toss about human rights the legal system or the sanctity of life - unless any of that can be of direct benefit to himself. A narcissist extraordinaire and pathological liar. I really feel sorry for you Josephus, and for all others who may be suffering similar illusions. I can only wish you well and hope things may work out a lot better than you imagine they can. Posted by Saltpetre, Tuesday, 15 September 2020 1:02:08 AM

Josephus,
The Democratic Party is not "far left" at all - by the standards of most western countries it's right of centre. America's abortion laws are not very effective at reducing the numbers of abortions. It would be far better to address the problem of women being (or perceiving they are) unable to succeed in life if they become mothers at the wrong time. You seem to be so blinded by rightwing slogans that you've failed to recognise that energy economics have changed. The green options have largely become the cheaper options, but doing nothing is often the most profitable course of action for existing energy companies. A Green New Deal would revive, not cripple, the economy. BTW, why do you say "our economy" when this is an Australian board? If you've copied this from an American site, please provide attribution! If Pueto Rico wants statehood, would the GOP deny it? Biden has previously described "defund the police" as "the stupidest slogan ever". However, unlike you (or whoever's claims you're ripping off) he understands that there are more effective ways of preventing crime than an ever stronger police presence. And it's likely a federal government takeover of the US healthcare system would make it more efficient. What do you have against that? Posted by Aidan, Tuesday, 15 September 2020 2:36:42 AM

Dear Josephus,
"authorize the use of our tax money to pay for abortions and gender reassignment surgery" Here is some news, it's not your tax money and while he might be your president you can't vote for Trump. Sheesh mate you really have let the koolaid cult draw you in. Snap out of it. Posted by SteeleRedux, Tuesday, 15 September 2020 11:25:09 AM

SR wrote: "you clearly misspoke. WHO clearly identified it as the CFR and you have provided no evidence they took it for the IFR."
I provided two pieces of evidence: 1) I posted a link and pulled out the relevant quote (twice, to make it easier for you) showing that in the early days they thought CFR and IFR were roughly the same value. That you didn't read or comprehend that point is the problem here. 2) the simple point that you don't use CFR in models. "Is this what you are advocating? " I wasn't advocating anything here, SR. You simply pulled out this poor attempt to find an error in my past posts as a way to try to deflect from the monumental errors you made in this thread....fail. "Given herd immunity is likely to require 60% of the population being infected, and even allowing for the fact that the nursing home toll is likely skewing the figures, at a rough estimate as CFR of even 3%..." See, again you get yourself utterly confused between CFR and IFR. Best to avoid numbers SR. I won't try too hard explain it to you since you care little and understand less. But simply, if 60% of the population were infected, somewhere around 90% of them would be asymptomatic or have such mild symptoms that they wouldn't be tested and therefore wouldn't become cases. Your numbers are wrong by orders of magnitude. Will we add that to the list of monumental errors you've made here? I've lost count. But stand-by for one of SR's famous "when I said it was white, it was obvious I meant it was black and how dare you suggest I didn't know it was blue" defences.
