Foxy,

Obviously you are great on the wiki-speak but in your own mind why do you think the Democrats chose Kamala Harris as Biden's running mate or do you just take everything at face value and actually think that Biden chose her directly?

Mr Opinion,

Read what I wrote - I can't make it any clearer.

Foxy,

As long as you're happy with what you wrote that is the main thing.

Mr Opinion,

1) Go to pet store.

2) Buy bird seed.

3) Ask how long it will take for
the bird to grow.

4) Wait for reaction.

Foxy,

You might have to explain that to him slowly.

On social change (which should be right up Misop's alley too as a sociologist, as well as bird-breeder), Barack Obama and Kamala Harris are examples of the social and physical mobility of people over the last 150 years, but particularly since the War.

Some of my ancestors came out here 200 years ago, but none of their descendants could afford to go back for a visit until at least the fifties or later. Nowadays, people think nothing of flying to the other side of the world: between them, my kids have been to been to New Zealand (many times), to south-east Asia, Greece, Mexico and Cuba, Canada and the US.

Conversely, people have come to Australia - and become equal, full citizens - from all over the world in the last seventy years.

In a democracy, no group rules, or should expect to rule as some sort of eternal right. So we have had prime ministers born in England, Wales, Scotland, Chile and elsewhere, and MPs born in fifty different countries. Men and women. Left- and right-handers. The best in our society.

So it should be, and in the US too. Kamala Harris is an example of that wonderful, democratic shift in American society. Not before time. Great days lie ahead, folks.

Joe
