This is the horrific moment a group of African youths punched and kicked their outnumbered rivals in front of hundreds of terrified shoppers.

Footage uploaded to social media shows the youths running through a busy shopping strip, before launching into the violent attack.

The video was captured in Perth's Murray Street Mall on Wednesday, according to social media posts.

A group of males can be seen chasing after a youth, swinging wildly at him, before pinning him against a shopfront.

Several punches were thrown as more youths piled in and started kicking the youth.

The group also punched other youths who found themselves caught up in the violent attack.

Bystanders could be heard screaming as the shocking incident unfolded.

Perth police are now calling on the public's help as they investigate the Murray Street Mall incident and another fight which broke out a short time earlier.

About 2.10pm a large group, predominantly males, gathered in the Supreme Court Gardens, a public park, where a fight broke out, before the group was dispersed.

A short time later, about 2.45pm, the violent incident unfolded in Murray Street and it is believed the same group were involved.

Police are keen to speak with witnesses who filmed the incidents. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Phil, your latest report does have substance, being widely reported by many news outlets, including the ABC. It should be of concern to all of us when anything like this takes place. There is a lot of work to be done with all the disadvantaged youth in society, including those of African appearance.
