We have a Navy that's well equipped to protect our borders. Locking up asylum seekers indefinitely for "processing" (which never takes place) besmirches our identity as a nation.

What a shameful muckraking headline from a widely discredited toerag of an organisation.

Just how many convicted rapists or murderers are there in our detention camps?

As the main argument is about bringing sick children to Australia for treatment how many of them are convicted rapists or murderers?

What a load of heartless rubbish and the person who polluted this forum with it should be ashamed.

Not going to engage in verbal warfare with those who have closed minds
Yes I know it is cruel, offshore detention
But as I have in thread after thread said, the middle path is the one voters want
And both sides know boat arrivals are past their use by date
Any sign of weakness, human feelings, will restart those boats
This coming weekend is Labor National conference
Some will call for ending the practice.
They WILL BE DEFEATED
Let the greens have those who want to reject the views of over half of the population, Labor knows only from in the government benches can it get good policy in place
A new Malaysian solution? maybe

Dear Belly,

If you don't want to engage in verbal warfare my friend don't post this kind of misinformed rubbish;

“Any sign of weakness, human feelings, will restart those boats”

The boats are still coming. They are mostly being turned back because of the naval capacity we have in the area not because of our terrible treatment of children.

This shouldn't mean we deny children proper and appropriate medical care for some mythical 'cruel to a few to be kind to the many' mantra.

We should at least be better than that even if it is just in this instance.

SteelRedux your view is shared by about 15, maybe 20, percent of voters
We are and will remain a multicultural country
How much chance have the greens of ever ruling this country
What about the other extreme one motion
Conservatives use refugees as a weapon, because it works
Labor had its blind stupidity 23 years in opposition
It never again will have policy that serves the few and turns the rest against it
Until true welfare reform is in place, until economic refugees stop coming, Labor like the Liberals will follow the voters
Sad yes, but true

Belly -
so most aware you have your conference this weekend.

However, we need to cover past history -

Who was the Government in power that chose to ignore Howard's policy -whereby there were 7 detainees in camp only.

We come to Labor - Who opened the floodgates for 50,000 illegal boat people to enter our shores, !,200 deaths at sea, that we know of, plus over 8,000 children being detained in detention centres. At the same time 17 detention centres had to be re-opened during this time.

During this time "illegal" boat people arriving on our shores tossed their identifications overboard - oh but no - not their mobile phones.

The Activists had their numbers, and continue to this very day to seek to destroy security for all Australian citizens.

So I ask you a question as an Aussie citizen - Lindt Café seize and resultant death and/or injury of "special" mates. Have you googled the perpetrator who caused death and injury to some extremely 'special" people in our lives. This person should not have been in Australia, nor on our streets.

If not, please do so, and do hope you will change your mind as to an Aussie's view on how they "wrought" the system, such wrought continues to this very day. You can view AAPT tribunal decisions for yourself.

There are many other instances - but we will respect those lives lost in all terror attacks on Aussie citizens.

This new Motion put up by Phelps supported by Labor and the Greens leaves voters saying - no way will we - as voters - put our security in jeopardy again - for any party and under any guise.
