Bazz,
Sorry I misunderstood you - I thought the thread's title was ironic.

However taking it literally it's no less illogical. Firstly, Indonesia has nothing to gain from our embassy being moved to Jerusalem. Secondly, moving our embassy would be very unpopular with ordinary Indonesians. ScoMo first mooted the idea in Indonesia's Palestinian Solidarity Week, so it got far more attention in Indonesia than it should have, and the Indonesian government wants to be seen as responding to its people's concerns. They probably see the actual outcome as less important, but unlike you, they know Australians are far less obsessed with avoiding losing face than they are.

There is no good reason for moving the Australian embassy in Jerusalem.
There is very little public support for such a move, and most Aussies oppose it.

We certainly shouldn't move it just to appear defiant to Indonesia. Though we should be defiant when standing up for principles, defiance purely for its own sake is stupid.
Doubly so if you think the Indonesians are trying to play us- letting them do so is the dumbest of all responses!

" Eastern Jerusalem are being ruled over against their will. I feel helpless about it...my prayers".

Can you connect approval of embassies moving there with approval of ruling against east Jerusalem Arabs' will ?

Dear Nick,

«Can you connect approval of embassies moving there with approval of ruling against east Jerusalem Arabs' will ?»

Other than the travel-through issue which I already mentioned, I cannot see a connection. Assuming the diplomats and their clients do not pass through their land, what business have the Arabs in Eastern Jerusalem with what is happening in the Western side?

I love you too Philip. When do you want to meet?
Yuyutsu
The business of east Jerusalem Arabs is that Israel is expelling them. You say you lament it. I'm starting to think you don't mean it. I'm not sure Philip really does love me.
